I'm thinking of chopping up a $1200 veil I got from the Priscilla of Boston closeout for super super cheap to make my own veil..
The one I got is a huge long mantilla veil in perfect condition but it doesn't go with my dress at all.
I think I want a elbow or fingetertip blusher with a waltz, floor length or sweep veil that is detachable.
Has anyone done this? I'm super picky with veils it turns out! I can't find one I like that is affordable. I don't like cheapy feeling veils.

Re: Anyone DIY their Veil?
i made mine...a cathedral with blusher. i couldnt justify spending over $200 on something i was going to wear for a 25 minute ceremony (even though i did have some pics taken while i was wearing it) I can tell that I made it...but no one else noticed (took it with me to a dress fitting and my mom and moh said how perfect it looked with the dress...they had no idea i made it until i told them). The bottom curled up a tiny bit (i had planned on trying to add a trim around the bottom or some beadwork but decided against it). IMO, if you have the time to experiment, go for it, but also have a backup plan. I had contacted an Etsy seller and knew the latest date I could order it just to be safe...but obvi never ended up ordering it. I ordered the tulle from fabric.com and I think it came to $12 (i ended up ordering the satin and stuff there too for my cardbox so I didnt have to pay shipping). I got a hair comb from joann fabric for $3 and was set!

Re: Anyone DIY their Veil?
I would be nervous to DIY for the veil (and especially such an expensive veil). I would suggest first going to a seamstress and see if they can do it for you for a reasonable price. Maybe the place that is altering your gown can do it?? Wedding dress alterers are familiar with veil fabric and would know hte best way to handle it.
