They come as stickers actually. They have them on janeweddings.com. You just stick them but they're real flowers I think?..

Re: Anyone do those place cards with pressed dried flowers attached?

here we are...

Placecards instructions:

1. select flowers - one flower for each placecard (www.naturespressed.com)

2. buy placecards - I got mine from Paper Source (www.paper-source.com) which is possibly my favorite store in Chicago. The placecards were pre-scored and looked like this:

3. On Word, make a 2-column document. Set the margins so that each column is as wide as your placecards (mine measured 3.5'). Center the text.

4. Pick a nice font. We used 'AT Citadel Script' (size was 26pt) which I bought from www.fonts.com. But carrieongrove found some REALLY nice ones for free at www.dafont.com that I would also recommend.

5. If you use the same size placecards as I did (Paper Source only sells one size) then type the first person's name in the first column at 3.7' (Word tells you at the bottom what the measurement of each line is, so just keep hitting Enter until you get to 3.7'). Type the second person's name in the first column at 8.6'.

6. Repeat the same thing for the 3rd and 4th people's names in the 2nd column. So at this point you should have 4 people's names on the document.

7. Print this page on regular computer paper. it will be your 'test page' and it should look like this:

8. Now comes the tedious part. Take a placecard and lay it on top of the first name on the 'test page' so that if you hold it up to the light, you will see the first person's name through the bottom half of the placecard, centered perfectly:

9. Once it is placed perfectly, take a small piece of tape and tape it down! you might want to play with what works best for you. You must make sure that it is taped it down at the very top of the page.

10. repeat this for the following names, so you have a total of 4 placecards taped down - here's a shot of what it should look like, with 3 of the 4 placecards (imagine it with the 4th )

11. send that puppy through the printer! Make sure to adjust your printer so that the document will come straight out of the back instead of curving up through the top - most printers have this capability. When it comes out (as long as you have taped it down well) you will have those 4 names printed on the placecards perfectly.

NOTE: this requires alot of trial and error. it is really tedious but once you get the hang of it it is really easy.

ALSO: I am sure that there is some easier way to do this, but it's what worked for me. You could also take them to a printer and have them done professionally!

For the printing inside (i.e., for a table # or name) - I just printed the names of our tables on clear labels - it was much easier than running them through the printer again and looked really good:

So, after you've printed out all the placecards and placed the table name labels on the inside, it's time to attach the pressed flowers.

1. get Glue Dots and Mini Glue Dots:

So, after you've printed out all the placecards and placed the table name labels on the inside, it's time to attach the pressed flowers.

1. get Glue Dots and Mini Glue Dots:

2. attach the glue dot to the placecard in the upper left corner of the half with the guest's name (i.e., the center of where you want the flower to be). Use a mini glue dot if the flower is small or narrow; use a regular size one if the flower is al ittle larger.

3. gently take the flower and lay it on top of the glue dot,
pressing lightly.

NOTE: you only have one shot to attach the flower, since the glue dots are such a strong adhesive, so you should really practice attaching some flowers on test placecards before attempting to do the real ones.

4. you're done!
