I would like to try doing Yoga and before I go and buy the mat and the block and all of that stuff, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get started, any good videos? classes? Advice?
Thanks!!

Re: Anyone do YOGA?
I wouldn't go right out and get the block.
I started with a few classes at my gym and fell in love with it. I didn't even need the mat at first. I work really long hours now, and cant get to the gym anymore, so I bought a tape 'Bryan Kests Power Yoga' to do at home and I love it.

I LOVE Bryan Kest. I do it at home as well. If you are a beginner, i recommend taking a class a few times. Then you can get videos and do it in the comfort of your home home...for cheap too! :)

I've been doing yoga for years and have never heard of the block. What is this?
I'm guessing you don't really need it. But a sticky mat is good.
I agree that you should consider taking a few classes to get the basics down first.

I agree with Denise - I forgot to mention that if you start out with Bryan Kest right off the bat, you may get discouraged. The classes I took at the gym were for real beginners.
I actually didn't even know there were yoga studios.

Its a hard foam rectangle block. They have some at target. To me - it kind of goes against the Yoga ideals of balance and body awareness to start buying gimmicky items. I would say skip.

Oh, is it to put your foot up against in standing poses?
If so, it's definitely not needed - you'll get the hang of it!!
Have fun - yoga is a wonderful exercise to get into!!

I've never used a video... I take classes at my gym, but Ilove it! Definitely get your own mat, the ones at the gym always smell like feet

Re: Anyone do YOGA?
I am a part time yoga instructor in CA and I highly recommend it. One hour of power yoga burns 335 calories.
