Anyone doing 'Day after' photo shoot?

Anyone doing 'Day after' photo shoot?

Hey ladies,

Here's my dilemma. I'm stressing about the time we have to take photos after the ceremony. We are having the ceremony and reception at the same location so the only time we have to take photos will be during the cocktail hour. My FH and I are not seeing each other before the wedding. My mom is very adamant about this. Each photographer we have met with has said during the cocktail hour is not enough time to get all of our shots, even if I cut the ceremony to 20 mins. We will have time to take the basic pics with family and bridal party but no time for the really gorgeous, artistic photos. One photographer suggested that instead of an engagement shoot, we do a day after shoot. FH and I pick a date after the wedding, put dress and tux back on, head to a park and take photos. No stress or rushing. Also, Floral Terrace does not have an outdoor area for photos and I really want a few pics with natural sunlight.
At first, I thought it was a crazy idea but it's starting to sound brilliant with each day that passes. We could actually enjoy our cocktail hour instead of taking pictures the whole time. What do you guys think? Is it really necessary to have engagement photos? I'm so confused!

if you do that, then you would have to get your hair and makeup redone too and that could get pretty expensive... and on your wedding day you have to make sure you don't ruin your dress or anything.

If it were me, I would either book a nearby church so that the ceremony can be earlier, or I would just take pics during cocktail hour. An hour is PLENTY of time for pictures, I have been to so many weddings where they did this. If you really don't want to do either option, then the day after shoot is really the only option but I would not want to have to pay all of that money again personally

You both make really good points. I didn't really think about hair and makeup but you are absolutely right. We are having an afternoon wedding so having the ceremony at a church would mean that we will have to get ready so much earlier. This seems as if it would be a simple issue but it's bothering me.
