I am thinking of trying this out, especially since I know some people on here have done really well....My DR. told me I have to lower my carb intake because it seriously affects my hypoglycemia AND my hypothyroidism, not to mention I am borderline Type 2 diabetic (it ***** that I have all that crapp to deal with but I am SO GLAD to finally know what's been wrong with me all these years!!!)
Anyone doing it now??? I will probably start on Sunday or Monday because it's my nephews birthday tomorrow and I want to drink and eat cake!!!

Re: Anyone doing South Beach???
I don't follow South Beach - I basicaly do Atkins. I haven't had sugar, flour, potatoes, etc. in over 3 years. I lost over 70 pounds and have basically kept it off. If you stick with it, it's not bad. Good luck with it!

Re: Anyone doing South Beach???
I started south beach on tuesday and I feel great, I have more energy and I have lost 4 lbs already. It definetly works if you stick to it. I did it a couple of years ago for my brothers wedding and I lost 20 lbs, but I put it back on because I stopped watching what I was eating because the wedding was over. So now I really have to stick to it, because whatever I lose I dont want to gain back.

08er crashing...hi liz I'm on day 13 of south beach phase one and i love it. Down 11 lbs and my sugar levels are so much better. I was checking my blood sugars on a regular basis because my endocronologist was trying to find a pattern of when my sugar was dropping (dropped down to the 50s on a regular basis) and for me, anything under 75 is low and i feel terrible. I love how i feel so much that im staying on phase 1 for at least an additional 2 weeks! FM with any questions. GL!

I do atkins. I have basically protein and any carbs I have are fruits, veggis and only whole wheat. I lost 35 pounds on this and it has been the way to go. You got to find what works for you.

your too much. Maybe it's just from your body adjusting to the change of diet. I can't believe I'm getting married in 1 year from today. Hopefully the weather is not the same.

I was very sick to my stomach the first couple of days, but now I'm ok, I guess my body just had to adjust to it.

Re: Anyone doing South Beach???
Weight Watchers and South Beach work really well. Except weight watchers is more nutritionally sound. It was actually developed by a dietitian and a doctor. It teaches important things like portion sizes and it helps you make sound decisions so that you can be full. It works and you'll never be hungry. South Beach is good but i totally think that no carbs is bad for you. You need carbohydrate for energy. It's only when you overeat carbs that you'll gain weight. However the second phase of South Beach is very good because you get to eat whole grain starches.

Re: Anyone doing South Beach???
thanks ladies!!
i've done weight watchers before and done great, but my DR is concerned that the carbs are causing my hypoglycemia, or at least triggering my crashes...thats why he thinks south beach would help stabilize my sugar...he told me so far:
no white bread no pasta no refined sugar no refined carbs no processed foods
i really have to ease into this as that is the majority of what i eat but i am starting medication for my hypothyroidism which may help...im more concerned with keeping the diabetes under control!!
