Anyone donating to American Cancer Society in lieu of favors?

Originally FH & I were donating to St. Judes but just recently my two best friends & BMs have had it rough.....My ones friends father passed away from cancer about a month ago & her Mother just beat the same cancer he died from & then last night my other BM called to tell me her father was just diagnosed with lung cancer (hasn't smoke a freakin day in his life, so NOT fair!).....SO we decided that we should really donate to ACS but I'm confused....there is one section that says you can make any donation you want and will receive scrolls but then there is another section that lets you design the scrolls but there is minimum of 80 at $3 a piece plus printing & other misc. fees bringing the donation cost up to $1000...... I'm so confused!

This might sound horrible but FH & I just don't have an additional $1000 dollars to spend for that, we were donating the same amount of money as would go towards our regular favors plus in addition to that we are still placing a box w/ candy in it, to wrap the scrolls around.

Does anyone know more about donating to ACS?

Have you tried calling them to see if they can work with you? I was thinking of doing a donation to a cancer foundation other than ACS, but I looked on ACS's website as well, and it seemed tricky to do online. If you are set on donating to them I would call and see what they say.

That does seem like a rather large amount.

i was able to give any amount i wanted and they sent me scrolls... we were so broke at the end, we only donated a few hundred dollars.... and it was fine.... they were happy to get it. UNfortunately, i dont' have the contact info. with me... i just e-mailed the guy and we did everything over e-mail....
