yeah i see what u mean...u can always start with a small section at the top of your slip (that wont be seen) to see exactly how long it needs to be left n, etc.. to make sure its the right shade
quick question- when u are just stnading up straight like for regualr pics, it wont be seen right? only when u lift up your dress a bit right? i LOVE the idea but i dont want it to be seen for regular pics (just for garter removal and for like fun pics)

Re: Anyone dying their slip?
i found this on a website (it's about how to do it yourself):
Dip Your Slip: Colored Crinolines
Want to really make a statement? Well, you will with a colored crinoline (slip). For many years, the traditional bride has worn the typical white or ivory crinoline under her wedding gown. Today, there is a new approach to adding a surprise of color to the traditional white gown. Colored crinolines definitely add sass and personality to the bridal attire.
You can create your own crinoline in the comfort of your own home without spending the “big” bucks and stretching your budget to keep up with one of the most recent trends. Before you attempt this project, make sure that you have all of the required and necessary materials and assistance. Listed below are the basic instructions for creating a modern, colorful piece to your dream wedding attire.
*The Pink Tea Rose is not responsible for any damages occurred during the dyeing process. It is suggested that you get professional instruction before beginning this process on your wedding garments.
Coloring Your Slip
Suggested Materials
– RIT Dye (Your color of choice)
– Rubber Gloves
– Materials called for according to the Dye instructions
– Washing Machine
– Clothing Hanger
– 2-4 Clothes Pins
1. Wash your slip 24 hours before you begin the dyeing process and hang air dry.
2. Prepare dye bath (be sure to follow directions on dye box carefully) and fill your washing machine with hot water.
3. Stop the washer. With assistance, dip entire slip into hot water and get completely wet, then take slip back out. (Be careful the water will be hot)
4. Pour dye bath into the washer, turn the washer back on, and put slip back in.
5. To ensure the slip is thoroughly dyed, run the “wash” cycle twice. Reset it back to the wash cycle. Before you start the 2nd wash cycle, untwist the slip and place back into washer. Make sure that you wear your rubber gloves.
6. After the 2nd wash cycle (should take about 25-30 minutes), you can check to see if your slip needs to be untwisted and then place back into washer. Make sure that you wear your rubber gloves.
7. Now, let the entire cycle complete and then completely wash your slip.
8. Let your slip air dry and it should be ready to take to the dry cleaners to be straightened.
i'm doing it - bright green! very excited too. =0) i haven't dyed crinoline, but i've dyed everything else so i'm not too worried. you can just follow the back of the box directions on RIT dye and throw it in your washing machine. that's the easiest as it'll give you a consistent color/shade as long as you don't leave it twisted. if you do it by hand it's still not too back, you just have to keep stirring it and checking on it - it's more finickey.

Re: Anyone dying their slip?
i also found a slip (almost new) in the thrift store by me that i used for a costume, but it was only $12 and they had a few there. if you're nervous about it, you can always get something like that and practice.
and if you're really too nervous to do it yourself, i'm sure your seamstress can point you in the right direction for someone to do it for you, but it's really not that bad. =0 gl!

Re: Anyone dying their slip?
I noticed that AC Moore had the RIT dye in almost every color imaginable. I am planning on doing this too, just not sure of the color yet.

Re: Anyone dying their slip?
It's so cute, I am just assuming my slip is attached to my dress. Or are you guys getting additional poof added by adding another crinoline underneath?

My dress doesnt have a slip attached to it. When I tried my dress on they gave me a slip to try on with it.
