anyone else?

Is anyone feeling that some of this wedding stuff gets completely out of hand? Photo costing 5000+, flowers, music.. oh gesshhh. it just keeps adding up

FH and I really want to buy a house and start our lives together. The wedding is... ONE day, then its over. Our lives together are forever. all that money for one day, what about the rest of our lives?

We still want to have the reception, but im really starting to think i need to find ways to cut major corners... DIY centerpieces maybe?

I really want that house... haha

Does anyone else feel like this?

yup, definitely feel the same way. These prices I'm being quoted are ridiculous.

Ooooh definitely!!!! But I'm trying to put a little bit of $$$ away each week so that hopefully when final deposits are due that we won't be looking through the sofa cushions for change!!!

Yep big time. One of my major vents. It just starts to get out of hand somethings and your right it really is one day/night. Most people after they are married say to me they wished they didn't waste soo much money on their wedding. SO i say and what we do is budget for what we think is important and cut the fat out.

yes i do...since me and fh are paying for the wedding ourselves we had set our budget to 20000 because we also want to buy a house/condo and would rather have more money to add to that instead of a 6 hour party--not saying that im not so excited and cant wait for my wedding but we have been together for nine yrs so our wedding is going to be a great big party-we found larkfield manor and got so much for our money and things were looking good...then we won the free dj package at the wedding of the yr and now my aunt told me she is going to pay for my photographer as a wedding present!! so all we have to do as far as vendors is limo, flowers, and video....i would do as much as u can to save ur money---like u said DIY and think about what u really need to have vs what u really want but could afford not to spend the money..i know this wasnt much help but i understand how u feel

Definitely!!! Every time I mention house hunting....FH gets sooo nervous and upset. Buying a house scares the **** out of him. It is really hard to make ends meet on LI

FH keep redoing our budget because we dont understand how we wound up spending so much $...he really doesnt want to rent but a house doesnt seem to be in our near future...its rediculous because FH has a very good job and we still have no $

I agree 100% with you! FH has started saving for a house or whatever we plan to do after we get married and for now, i am saving for the wedding. not only are the vendors expensive but THE CHURCH IS CRAZY!!!! i cant believe how much it is charging us! FMIL is paying for all marriage fees including the church which really helps and my parents gave us money to cover my side of the family which helps too but we have to come up with most of the $$.I dont know where it is coming from.

Yes. I'm not going over board. The things I was willing to spend a little extra I have booked already (within budget). Everything else I don't mind cutting corners. I want pretty flowers of course.... but I'd rather have great music and people smiling and dancing.
