Are personalized matches a thing of the past?My FI thinks we shouldn't get them since people aren't aloud to smoke indoors anymore. I always thought it was a great idea. I've taken matches from every wedding I go to as a momentum and I don't even smoke. I do use the matches to light all my candles at home. I also think my FI is trying to cut down on the small stuff b/c we're spending so much on this wedding.

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
We got them. Our favors are candles so we figured they could go along with them.

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
A little morning humor - I swore I was going to get these even though everyone has told me it's a total waste of money. Why, because my parents quit smoking years ago & when we had the blackout last August I was all alone & matches from 2 couple's weddings were all I could find! If it hadn't been for the free wedding matches, I wouldn't have been able to light any candles or the stove (for warmth & survival in Aug! )
I'm totaly over dramatic & tell everyone those matches are how I survived the traumatic blackout. I think if it's in your budget great & if not they won't be missed. Maybe you can just get 1 order of 50 and put them by the bar or 2 on a table..that's like $15 and not a fortune!

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
I ordered what looked like matchbooks but were actually little boxes filled with candy hearts. Like the wooden matches in a box.

We got them too- I love them because it seemed like such a traditional thing to do- I almost got the bride & groom swizzle sticks too. I take matches from everywhere I go and I don't smoke- I use them for candles or whatever. And actually, matches are one of the few wedding favors I have kept as a memento and not thrown out or given away after a while.
You can also order little matchbook notebooks- they look like matches, but have paper inside that you can use as a small notepad.

I actually won 100 free matchbooks at a LIW GTG from from Follow Your Heart. So I got them done and they came out beautiful.

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
We are getting them with either our initials on them or 'the perfect match' written on them.

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
From a catalog- it was either Invitaitons by Dawn, or Rexcraft- I ordered from both and don't remember which one I got what from. I think they both have them, but there was a particular design I liked in one, that the other didn't have. They both have websites, if you search for them, I am sure you can find them.
BTW: I think they were $15 for 50 books.

Re: Anyone else buying personalized matchbooks?
We got them too - and our favors are part candles. I wanted them bc I love getting them from other weddings plus we put the claddagh symbol on them to incorporate a little Itish in to the wedding (I'm mostly Irish). Every wedding I have been to has them and in the grand sceme of things, they are so cheap! lol PS - We bought ours online from Rexcraft, the same place we bought our invites.
