Anyone else feel like this?

Anyone else feel like this?

Man, I just hate this. I can't find a venue that is affordable that I actually like! Unbeknownst to me, I am super picky and not happy with anything this is in the parameters of my shabby budget. At first it was Atlantica, but reality and reason rained on my shiny parade and we won't be getting married there. It's 5:30 in the morning I can't even sleep. To be honest, I want to get married in the carribean, but Mark (fiance) absolutely doesn't want it. So I will probably have to pick a country club, which I like for other people's weddings, but not for mine. They are not for me. Uggh I just want nothing to do with any of this! Does anyone else feel so fustrated? This is supposed to be happy and exciting, and it's just not. Thanks for listening.

i'm sorry you're having such a hard time finding a venue. everyone wants to have the perfect wedding, but you have to realize that it's going to be a great day if you make it a great day. your friends and family just want to celebrate one of the most important days of your life, regardless of where your wedding day will be. i'm sure you'll find something affordable. you should check this website for unique but affordable places to have a reception. there are a lot of great ideas on here, you just have to look for them. hope everything works out.

Hmm I hed the same issue. What I wanted was a garden wedding but SOOOO not in our budget. And the destination weddign thing didnt work for us due to family and friends being obnoxious sooo...I do what i always do when faced with a problem. I made a list.

-smiles- sad but true-guess its the teacher in me. What i did was make a list of all the things that were priority in a venu. ie:

1. Outdoor ceremony
2. GREAT FOOD!
3. Affordable (not more than 100 a head)
4. PRETTY! I wanted a feel of a garden-windows, etc.
5. Casual-no velvet drapings or marble columns because so not us.

You get the general idea. It sounds silly but ti really helps you hone in on what you want. Also make a list fo what you DONT want if that helps.

-no velvet and marble.
-no super long travel times, etc,

Also if you are not dead set on having it in LI 9though i know this is an LI board, many brides arent from LI) your options open up a bit more. Parks, (we looked into central park), pierside resturants-alot of stuff out there. Jut get creative. The worst that can happen is the idea doesnt work out and you switch to plan B. Things worked out for us and Im confiden they will work out for you as well. :) Good luck!

PS-Our budget was low too BUT we booked for a Sunday Morning and we got 150 dollar a person place for less than 100. So consider that. Friday afternoons/evenings are good too BUT they book up SUPER fast so if your weddign is soon, have to move fast.

Did you look at the George Washington Manor? I'm getting married there. It's an old house from the 1700's redone into a hall. The room is GREAT and the chapel is very quaint. Take a look. I hate wedding factories myself, so this might be a nice option. The price I was quoted was fantastic and the food was good.

Where have you looked so far?

Where are you located? Westchester County has beautiful Castles and Mansions, just a different way to go. Some have house caterers and others allow you to use your own, and wonderful way to keep your cost down. Just a thought...

OH, most brides and one time or another during the process have to bend and feel angry or sad. Just remember not 'one' thing will make your special day great. 'Two' will, you and him. I hope it all works out for you.

Picking our venue has been the worst part of the planning so far for me. We have such a tight budget that I couldn't make anything work at the regular reception halls and I wasn't happy with the few that I could afford. After a lot of searching, asking around, and crying I finally found the perfect place. I have to do everything myself, from setup to clean up, but I don't mind. I'm having a Saturday night wedding on the water for half the cost of a Sunday at the other places I found. If you're willing to do some extra work you can find great deals and great places.

Hang in there, once you find the place everything else falls in line.

I had the same problem, only I wanted Crescent Beach Club. I've since picked a place I don;t love, but tis nice. I have to remind myself that this is only 5 hours of my life. There will be years to go afterwards, and this will only be a memory. Its not the end of the world if its not perfect.
