Anyone Else Feeling A Bit Overwhelmed

With the economy the way it is and having to pay for a wedding in this mess is a bit depressing. I just got a quote from a videographer and I almost fell off my chair. They cost more than my photographer. WOW!!!

I really loved their work but there is no way I can afford them, even if they were willing to negotiate their base price is just too high.

JMO but I feel like vendors should be a little more sensitive to the economy and all thats going on. I know they need to make a living too, but come on some of their prices are ridiculous (even in a good economy)!!!

Not sure what you video guy quoted you, but my video guy from T & T Studios is between $1195.00 to $1350.00 , again I dont know if that is within your budget. He is located in Ronkonkoma but if thats too far you can ask him to send you a sample DVD of his work. His name is Hal Wolin.
He is a great guy to work with. Def worth checking out.

You're not alone. I honestly feel REALLY irresponsible spending all this money. I'm starting to realize that some of the points that our FH's make are actually extremely rationale and (dare I say it) valid.

From my experience, you will have an *easier* time negotiating with vendors who are up and coming. For example...Pennylane is in a class by themselves and Brides will pay whatever it costs....good luck there. I've had vendors who are sensitive to the economic situation and who have adjusted pricing. Take your time, talk to them and you can make something work.

Yeah, I can't believe how much some stuff costs. It's crazy. I may not even be getting video at my wedding. You have to decide whats most important to you and what's most important to me is my photos so I am willing to pay the money to make sure that I get good quality pictures...

ITA with everyone, I can't believe in this economy prices are rising astronomically, but, who are we kidding, we're all still getting married!

Its like the wedding industry is recession proof! along with cosmetics....true story.

I know how you feel. I am hoping that some of the vendor will lower their price.

I completely agree with you 100% percent. I feel like I can use all this money for a down payment for a house! It is so true about up and coming photographers and videographers they are willing to budge. They might not have all the extras to offer but I believe they will try harder because they want to impress you and want you to refer them to your friends. Most vendors aren't sensitive if you just lost your job (like me) or if you have a small budget. Honestly you should try going on craiglist. It's a little iffy but if you search you can find a freelance videographer that will sure to please you and your budget.

Many Blessings!

I totally agree with you. They should be a little more sensitive but i guess because the economy is so bad everyone is out to survive financially right now.

But your videographer should not not not not cost more then ur photographer. No way.
Ask your photographer if they can recommend or work with a videographer. I've been to a million parties and sometimes if u get them separately and they don't know each other they might be fighting for hte same shot and it just turns into a horrible ordeal for everyone.
