Anyone else feeling overwhemled?

Anyone else feeling overwhemled?

Fo whatever resaon I had a complete breakdown today. It only lasted five minutes, but this is SO unlike me. I think everything is finally catching up w/ me. I know it is my fault because for whatever reason I feel that I have to do EVERYTHING. FI, family and friends have offered to help, but I always decline. I think it is a control issue w/ me and I feel that it is my sole resonsibility to get EVERYTHING done.

Does anyone else feel this way, or have I really lost it?

I'm with you! I have started allowing people to help me, because I had one of those meltdowns a month or so ago. Ask for help and accept it when it's offered. And make sure to take time for yourself. Get together with your girlfriends and get a drink or go see a movie. I've found that as much as wedding stuff drives me nuts sometimes, it's my friends who can always manage to cheer me up.

We should have our own counseling group.

I feel it!

But I have no one offering to help so it reallly IS ALL ME!

I just try to realize I WANT this day so badly but mostly I just want Jim and that makes a little of the weight off my chest (that and I know we're married so this day is just for us)

I am not trying to say everyone would be confortable doing what Jim & I did but I must admit being married already takes a lot of tension away. The wedding is just a celebration is not the big time pressure of the start of the rest of our lives! (how gloomy) it's the celebration of two lives becoming one. It's a huge weight off my chest to know if I had to push the wedding (which I dont yet) off a few months, its ok. I will have my day, my way no matter what!
heh

I came to the same conclusion today. I wish someone would take care of me for once, instead of me taking care of everything and everyone!!

wedding, job search, $$ issues, bills, broken house things

Re: Anyone else feeling overwhemled?

you are not alone

i would start making lists of outstanding items. write down how you want things done and then DELEGATE, DELEGATE, DELEGATE. this way you still have 'control' but distribute the labor

Re: Anyone else feeling overwhemled?

it's the little things as well. i called the church to book the rehearsal and she told me i first need to book the singer, the organist, chose my readings and meet w/ the priest. how am i supposed to know that. then i had to finish of the registry today and i was confused about the bath towels (sold as a set). when i asked the 'bath dept' woman what was included in the set she tells me to speak w/ the bridal registry person. another store screwed up my registry the other day and all the items i scanned were placed on someone else's registry, therfore i had to re-register all over again.

re: work (i teach) i am always helping EVERYONE. i would never turn a student away, so a result they ALWAYS come to me for advice. i recently acquired another job function at work (additional $$$), but a lot more work.

i need to get my hair highlighted, get a facial, makeup trial, dress fittings, find shoes, buy a flower girl dress (yes no one offered), type my guest list, send out the invites, block hotel rooms, oot guest bag, favors, BP gifts, veil cleaned, meet w/ florsit again, decide on song list, book a dr and dentist appointment, drop of the drycleaning, clean the house, grade papers, and go grocery shopping.

the list gopes on and on

I JUST went through that last week. I ended up taking 4 days off of work to get stuff done. I'm FREAKING out too!!

Like you said, I think I have control issues - but I've started to let it go. Because I think I will seriously need medication!!!!

I had my breakdown on Friday.

I've been asking FH for his address list for months and he still needs about 15 addresses (including his brother and sister - who doesn't have their siblings' addresses???) I told him they are going to the calligrapher today - if you never get the other addresses, they are not invited. Just can't wait anymore. He says he will help more but who knows. I keep thinking... less than three months to go...

i wouldn't say i am freaking out, just taking on WAY too much. i am not even feeling stressed, just (as someone else mentioned) overwhlmed and overworked. i really can't understand it becuase i am a very mellow person and usually do not let things get to me.

thanks for letting me vent and also for sharing your experiences. i feel SO much better knowing that i am not alone.

You are definitely not alone. I feel like I have so much that I need to still do and I have yet to do it. I have tried delegating but the tasks are not done the way I want and then I feel like I should just do everything myself. (Yes I know that I am a control freak!) My FI thinks that I am crazy but I want things to go off without a hitch.
