Anyone else freak out on the inter-island flight in Hawaii?
Here's my experience:
We went from Maui to Kauai on Aloha Air. First off, They let us board the wrong jet to Kona (Big Island). We would have been there for sure if these 2 passengers (who were extremely rude) boarded the plane and had no where to sit. I started crying because I coudn't believe they let us board the wrong plane, which made me doubt the whole system, security, etc. LOL
When we finally boarded the correct plane, the propellers made so much noise and scared the crap out of me! Talk about 'cloud jumping' - it was probably the worst part of the trip - and I was really loud each time my stomach went up w/ the plane jumping as it descended.

UGH, please don't tell me that! I am not looking forward to that part of the trip AT ALL!
ETA: So are you saying that we should go with someone other than Aloha?

i had no real probs with them, only part that weirded me out was no seating arrangements so its kinda like run for it and grab a seat. but the flights were so quick u take off fly for 10 minutes and land.

How many seats across are the planes? I used to take propeller planes to come home and go to college, they were two seats on each side. Loud but, not too bad.
The only thing I'm worried about it packing too much since the planes are very weight sensitive.

The idea of going on these suicide planes, scares me half to death.. that's one of the main reasons why I don't want to island hop when we go on our HM

ok, I was told that these planes are all jet engines, not propellers.

We had no problems. We flew from Maui to Kauai on a regular plane (maybe a little bit smaller). It stopped in Oahu too.
ETA: It was not a propeller plane.

Me too! Can anyone confirm?
We took three different interisland flights and all were on jets. Two of the planes had three seats on one side, two on the other. The third plane had three seats on each side, similar to a Southwest Airlines plane. Just confirm with your travel agent on the type of plane you're flying, b/c one of the airlines (not Hawaiian or Aloha which were the ones we used) use propellars (maybe it was island air or something like that?)
