But what do I say to my FH when his ONLY request in this planning is to get married there, he was raised in the church, and thinks his late father will be 'able to find me there on my wedding day'
I secretly hope that they're booked on our day (since NO ONE will answer/call me back).

Ugh, my childhood church is fugly. There is a larger than life (I mean HUGE) statue of Jesus' resurrection behind the altar, but it honestly just looks like a giant Jesus waiting for a high five. I said no effing way was high-five Jesus going to be in the background of our first pics as husband and wife. Since, I've found a lovely little church nearby with a wonderful laid back priest.
But ya can't change the church on him, not after that comment!! Here's hoping they're booked!

Ugh, that stinkssssssss....but if it means that much to your FH won't it be worth it? I guess your only hope is to pray they are booked!

I'm sorry you feel that way. My church isn't what I'd call gorgeous, but it's not terrible either. Besides, I was baptized and confirmed there, so it's kinda known that I would get married there.

i'm not a huge fan of my church...they just re-did it and its very modern, not my style BUT its the church i grew up in and i wouldn't want to get married anywhere else...so i can relate to your FH

My church is pretty plain. Then again, to me a church is a church. I went to school there and received all my sacaraments there so of couse that's where I knew I would be having it.

the reason I chose the church were using is because of the way it looked, so I know what you mean... I wanted a church that looked like a church inside and out... the church i grew up in and recieved my sacraments is just a buidling... it doesnt remind me of a church at all..
FH went to school till 3rd grade at the church were using, a few of his cousins were married there and 3 of my friends work in the school... so it does have some meaning to us.

my church is GORGEOUSSSS!! its my fav church.. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
they have been doing construction INSIDE of it for 2 YEARS. so the entire front of the church..where we will be standing with the priest is a war zone. theres huge metal poles from the ground to 30 ft high. its BAD

I am soooo sorry but I know how you feel!!! I had to fight to change my church because my childhood church was ugly. I won in the end and changed it to a prettier church but I know how annoying it is
