Anyone else HATE registering?

Anyone else HATE registering?

i spend 5 hours yesterday registering. it is SO overwhelming. FI has gone w/ me before, but we got nothing accomplished. i went to 3 stores yesterday. one store could not pull up my registery (started online) so i had to walk around the store writing items down. another store (i sepnd 1.5 hours scanning items) wasn't able to load my items, so i had to do it all over.

i SO much prefer doing it online, but not all items in store are listed online.

The registering experince was Ok for me, I should have totally left my FI behind though because he was SO no into it and that made the xperince that less enjoyable.

I am putting it off. I thought it would be fun - like a shopping spree! But I am really not into doing it right now. I think I will have to do it soon though.

I thought registering was fustrating also. One day I went w/ just mom and another we took FH. FH was picking out the most crzy things. He wants Mets themed towels! (French Blu & Tangerine) I was getting really annoyed with him, but I couldnt get too mad since he was being totally serious. So i just went with it & when I got hom I went online and erased most of the stuff he picked out.
Online is so much easier, but you are right a lot of the stores sites dont have everything so I think going to the stores is a must.
I heard that you were supposed to register for 50 gifts over the amount of guests you are expecting, but I dont really agre cause that doesnt take into account the shower & cheaper gfts that people might by a few of

Re: Anyone else HATE registering?

registering for us was very overwhelming but we knew it was going to be fun. as soon as we realized how much time it was going to take we decided to do it each time we went by the department rather then going once for like 7 hours and wanting to shoot ourselves!

FI and I went together only once and we were there for like 2-3hours and barely have anything on it. Although we did go on a Sunday and it was crazy. We did have fun doing it together, espeacially if you already live together, you can register for more fun things b/c we have so much already.

Ice Cream Maker!

I think we may go again today...

Re: Anyone else HATE registering?

oh believe me, i went for all quality. my whole thing is, i am NOT going to register just to register. i have to really love or want something to add it too my list. you should have seen me yesterday man handling the kitchen utenisils. after viweing the steak knives that go w/ my set, i even tested it on a piece of paper. although i loved the fact they matched my flatware, they were dull as hell (struggle to cut the paper). i even went so far as to buy a plate from my dinnerware so that i could take it to other store to match serving platters and bowls.

FI thinks i am crazy, but that's why i don't bring him along. i do admit that i am VERY picky, but why shouldn't i be? these are things that i hope to have around for years to come.

Hated it. I waited till the very last minute to do it.
I felt funny registering because I felt like I was asking for gifts, or telling people what to get me.
Besides, I've been on my own for 12 years, I have everything I need, so I just felt greedy!

I love it! My FH actually likes it too, although he does't want to admit it.. I think that he had more opinions and was pickier than I was about things...

I just finished registering. I ended up registering at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

FI didn't mind registering with me. We actually had fun in the beginning but the fun wore off after two hours. We left when we started fighting over can openers. Hehehehhehe. I did most of my registering online.

i saved FI the agony of registering w/ me. we both have the same taste and he was more than happy that i went by myself.

Re: Anyone else HATE registering?

I found this task to be the most stressful.
We went so many times and had the hardest time picking a China pattern. Even now I picked a pattern I liked but I don't love love love it. FI and I conflicted on what we liked.

Most of all I just felt bad asking for expensive gifts. I know it is a wish list but I felt greedy.
Glad that process is done

Re: Anyone else HATE registering?

We just did it this past weekend. We started at Fortunoff yesterday and after almost 3 hours we only managed to register for one page worth of stuff. We felt guilty registering for certain things so we spent a lot of time just wondering around. We wound up leaving exhausted and disappointed and went home an ordered a pizza and drank beer. lol! We started again this morning at Bed, Bath & Beyond and it went a lot better. We were there for a long time, but we registered for a lot of stuff. Since we didn't register for china, I already have it, we decided it wouldn't be too ballsy to register for some nice stemware. I think the rest of the stiff we put down is fairly reasonable and legitimate things we will actually use. We didn't go for the waffle iron, bread maker or the ice cream maker, we knew we'd never use those things.
