Anyone else hate the word...

BRIDEZILLA?

My sister just told me I was being a bridezilla b/c I'm having an issue with the cake at my RH. I emailed her to vent and she says that.

What the hell?!

because I get angry over something I'm automatically called a bridezilla?! I HATE THAT.

FH called me that once - AND ONLY ONCE.
Told him that I could really turn into one if I wanted to and he would really regret it.

Why does everyone thing that
BRIDE = BRIDEZILLA

Some of us are nice

SERIOUSLY! I don't get mean or nasty unless I'm being taken advantage of.

I'm in customer service I know what it's like to be on the other end.

UGH!!!

Man, if you can't vent to your sister, who can you vent to??? Apparently you are supposed to be docile and not get upset when your vendors don't listen to you?

...yeah that wouldn't work very long for me.

You can vent here, I don't think anyone will call you a bridezilla

I hate it too. I posted this once before but it's like PMS....people assume (or rather guys) that if you're cranky, you must be PMSing. No maybe you just p*ssed me off
But yes, bridezilla is a stupid term and if a bride asserts herself or has a strong opinion people love to use the term.

exacty!!! i soo agree - i actually told my mom and sister that they cannot use that word in front of me, it embarasses me, especially because i am trying SO hard to be a nice bride so people don't think i am a bridezilla! which of course means that i usually hold my tongue when i want something but no one else does... i know in the long run it won't matter but isn't this MY wedding?!

Ugh, I hear you! Last night I was getting my hair done and told my hairdresser that I told the girls they could do their hair anyway they wanted, wear whatever shoes they wanted, and I'm not hounding them about alterations because it's not my problem. And she goes 'wow, you're a bridezilla.' I was like 'wait, isn't that the opposite of bridezilla? I'm confused.' I thought I was being nice!!!!

Seriously, it really is ridiculous. I try hard not to be one, but my sister and FH call me one all the time. My sister wasn't getting any of my BMs involved in my shower, and because I was mad about it, I'm a bridezilla. I mean, come on! I am letting my girls wear ANY black dress they want (does not have to be a traditional BM dress). My FMIL made my centerpieces without really going over it with me and I was fine with it ultimately. I am being SO easygoing so to call me a bridezilla is really insulting.

Ha! Thanks! I think people just like to say it. They think it's funny, but when we brides are trying to be anything BUT a bridezilla is frustrating!

Um..yeah...that IS the opposite of a Bridezilla. I hate the term to begin with and now people aren't even using it correctly.

Re: Anyone else hate the word...

I used to get pissed (and still do...) but I realize that these people don't know what it's like to plan a wedding these days (or at all)- the prices, the expectations of your guests, the feeling that you HAVE to be memorable, the internet which gives so many more options to stress over...

Its alot harder now than it was 20 years ago.

I also think that vendors are all a bit too cocky- they read reviews on the internet and think they can do no wrong.

Sometimes people need to remember the old adage: The Customer is ALWAYS right!

I actually sympathize with alot (not all) of the girls on Bridezillas!
