Anyone else have people who didn't give a gift?

We had 3. One I knew about (financial situation) and it's a family member so I told them it was ok. Another, my family member told them it was ok (didn't know) and I didn't want to make a big deal about it but was mad when I found out . Then one of my husband's coworkers gave 50 dollars for 2 people. This woman brought her daughter as a guest. Another coworker 'forgot' his card. While we are going though cards we realized that we were missing one from them. We figured we would give it until we got back from the HM to see if we heard anything from them, heard nothing. So I told DH to text him when we got back and make it like we wanted to make sure we didn't loose it. He did and my husband still had to apporach him the next day because he was sleeping and didn't respond to the text. The guy said he forgot it and they realized the card was still there when they got home and he would bring the card in. Now him and his gf who attended are both out this entire week. So we still have no card. Waiting to see if he gets it next week..

we actually had a number of people not give gifts.

It's frustrating, but I'd just let it go. Technically, guests are not obligated to give a gift at all.

We had two people that didn't give us so much as a card. What can you do?

ETA: One was my cousin who I was a BM for when I was 19. I purchased my dress, chipped in for the shower, paid for my hair/make-up to be professionally done, gave $300 myself, DH came as my date and he gave $100 as well. They got divorced a year later. She gave us an empty card. And she brought her sleazy flavor-of-the-month boyfriend.

Her brother also gave us nothing, offered to dog-sit for the week I was on the cruise and trashed the place while we were gone. The day I came home from my honeymoon I was prying poker chips that were stuck in puddles of beer on my just refinished hardwood floors. He still never apologized.

we also had 6 no show's the day of.

we didnt have any stiffers. older ppl were cheapppp.. where the young broke guests gave A LOT.. like... i think they hit up the atm in the rh cuz we received an envelope 3 inches thick of all 20s.

haha thats what we thought too. we did get a card w/ a check in the mail from 1 no show and she wrote 'sorry i couldnt make it' but didnt offer a reason. a call before the wedding would have been nice though! we didnt hear anything from the other no shows. oh well

omg this would really piss me off- I have my younger brother's friends on complete standby for this reason.

We also had several no-shows. One really pissed me off- my co-worker told me the week before the wedding that she suddenly wanted to bring her 3 kids. Granted, they were invited and I love her kids, but I had to rearrange EVERYTHING to accomodate her. And then she showed up with only her husband and LOADED up on candy from the candy buffet. There were maybe 2 or 3 other no-shows. 2 couples actually called me the day before with valid excuses (one was a death in the family, the other was in the hospital!) and I later found out that another friend was in jail. At least he had a good excuse.

Wow...that is just wrong.


We had 6 couples not give a gift initially. One I knew about and promised to give us a gift when we returned...she did. One was was a surprise...said she mailed the card 2 weeks ago, still haven't seen it (she lives in SI)...no need to lie.
3 couples were family or BMs who came to our suite before leaving the hotel with their cards and another simply found the card in her hubby's suit coat as she went to the dry cleaner. She was mortified and ran over to our apt. with it.

On the upside...we had over a dozen ppl not come who sent very generous gifts.
