Is this for the Engaged Encounter weekend? If so, FH and I did this last year. Have fun. Tell your FH it really isn't so bad. Actually, I kinda wish we could do it again. If you have any questions, just ask!

2010er crashing....I was looking into doing this because of time issues...how long did it last every day? Is it a lecture or more discussion based? Thanks!

Here is a timeline of our weekend...

Friday:
Arrived at around 7pm. They had hosting couples help us to our rooms. Keep in mind that ladies are on one floor and the guys are on another floor. Everyone gets their own bedroom and bathroom though. When you get to your room, do not expect it to look like the Hilton. It's a bed (that you have to make yourself... sheets will be folded on top), a desk, and a dresser. No TV, my room didn't have A/C (but had a ceiling fan). We needed to bring our own bath towel.

After we got settled, we went downstairs to the meeting area. We were told to bring a pic of us and we had to make a little poster with construction paper and markers. Just little sayings, quotes, anything that defined our relationship. We posted them on the wall and it stayed there the whole weekend. Around 8pm we introduced ourselves to the other couples. There were two married couples who spent the weekend with us doing the lessons and approx. 13 engaged couples. We just had to talk about our fiance and the qualities they have. We were giving a workbook that we used the entire weekend. We did a few lessons that night. Basically the married couples discuss the topic and then we split up and answer questions alone. Then they rang a bell (think Kindergarden recess, lol) and we had to sit with our fiance. The couples scattered throughout the rooms and discussed our answers in private. Then they rang the bell again for us to all meet as a group. We didn't have to share any of our answers with the others but if something came up you were willing to share, then great.

We also took a few breaks and each couple was asked to bring in a snack for the weekend to share. There were cookies, fruit, juice, etc set up on the counter all weekend and if you wanted something, you could help yourself.

At 10pm Friday we had a closing prayer and then we went to our rooms. FH walked me to my room and we said goodnight. We had to get up for breakfast at 8am.

Saturday was pretty much the same thing... discussions as a group starting at 8:30/9, then alone with FH, then as a group again. We took a long break mid day so FH and I took a nice, peaceful walk around the grounds. Then Saturday night we met with a priest who was a part of some discussion, then we went to the chapel for a service, communion and prayer. Then there was a candle ceremony which was very emotional... I wasn't the only one with the tears flowing. Basically you had to hold FHs hands as if you were at the alter on your wedding day looking into his eyes as they read a prayer... We did the closing ceremony and called it a night around 10/10:30.

Sunday wasn't a long day. We were done by 1pm I believe. We received our certificate and said good bye to the other couples.

The food was surprisingly good. Breakfast was your standard eggs, bacon, cereal, coffee, etc... Lunch I believe was turkey burgers, salad... Dinner was some sort of chicken in a mushroom gravy, veggies and a side dish with bread. I know someone was a vegetarian and they were able to accomodate her with no problem.

We were inviting to help welcome couples for one of the upcoming weekends (maybe it would have been this one) but with FH out of state, we couldn't.

Enjoy it. You will learn a lot. You might think you've discussed everything imagineable but there will be something that comes up for the first time I'm sure.
