So I booked my church last year when I got engaged. Then recently I found out my church needs major renovations because the floor is rotted and I'm told that I need to book a backup church. I booked the backup and then find out my backup needs major renovations and cannot accomodate my wedding. I now have booked a third church and I've been told I have to plan each church as if I'm having my wedding there and meet seperately with the individuals for music/ceremony etc. I won't know until 'hopefully' the Fall which church I can use.
The backup church is nice but I loved my first church, I grew up there, I went to school there. I'm tempted to just have the ceremony in the gym of the school of the first church which is where they will be holding mass until the renovations are complete and where I was baptized when the original church burnt down 22 years ago.
I tried to plan ahead instead of procrastinate and it got me nowhere

Re: Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
My church is having the altar redone but the priest promised me and half the congregation that it would be done three weeks before my wedding. Someone else I know will be getting married there the week before - so hopefully that will be ok.
I kinda want to book a backup if possible and didn't know if I could do that. My priets thinks I am crazy.
Oh, and the other church in town is also having reconstruction!!!

really leese!!! are they making you plan two seperate weddings practically??? As if it wasnt bad enough planning one.
Also St. Williams has no rule about women having their shoulders covered so i picked out my dress and bridesmaids dresses and their strapless but now St Francis has restrictions on attire!!

No thats not bad to say at all ....your getting married in March I'm a month before you and they told me its most likely not going to be done - I'm seriously considering not using St Francis and if its not done just using the gym - thats where i was baptized and went to school anyway - I really had my heart set on St Williams! They havent even started renovations and if the floor needs to totally be redone it will take alot of time.
Whose your priest?

I am getting married at Maria Regina next April 28. Father Peter assured me the church will be ready for Easter, which is a week and a half before we get married. I am kinda worried too...do you think I should look for a back-up just in case??

Discuss it with your priest - if he's confident that the church will be completed then I wouldn't worry! I guess it doesn't hurt to have a backup just in case, and the other churches are very understanding about it and will be more than willing to help!
