Anyone else hosting Christmas for the 1st time?

I never hosted a dinner party let alone a holiday party. We decided it would be nice to have both of our families come together at our house for Christmas. Now I am going crazy. I feel so much pressure for everything to be perfect!!!!

Anyone else?

Last year was our first year for that and it stressed the hell out of me. I was so stressed that I still felt stressed days after. Everytime something went wrong someone made light of it though and said 'that's why I don't host these things' or 'Welcome to hosting a dinner party' It made me feel a lot better....or maybe it was just as the day progressed I was drinking more nad more

Me - and I'm starting to get a little nervous. There will be about 8-10 people and DH has to work so he won't even be around to help.

Besides the cooking I'm freaking about having my house spotless.

This is my third year hosting DH's family on Xmas Day (I've hosted for my family on Xmas Eve for years) ... my secret weapon is I fly my mom up to help me!!

I just hosted my very first holiday this weekend. My family gets together before the holiday so everyone came here! I was beyond stressed, but everything came out great and everyone was so pleased and kept raving about how good the food was!

We had 14 people. It was a semi- sitdown dinner. I cooked everything but put everything in sternos to keep them warm. What a life saver! I made turkey breast, spiral ham, mash potatoes, broccoli, baked ziti, meatballs and sausage. Everyone just took what they wanted and we all sat at the table.

One thing that helped me was to make a list of everything I had to do and when I had to do it this way there was no guessing of when to do what.

Don't worry everything will come out perfect. However, when you host you don't get to enjoy yourself too much - cause your busy!
