Anyone else inviting 375?

Anyone else inviting 375?

Is there anyway to get it down (besides ripping up FMIL's list?)

And is there any problems that I need to be aware of with that big of a wedding?

TIA!

The only thing you have to be aware of that I am sure you already are... its more of an expense besides just the p/p cost ( although that is the biggist) there are also favors, and centerpieces.

Also im sure doing the seating charts and place cards will be a huge PITA. - but thats true no matter how large or small the wedding is

My girlfriend's wedding was up there and they did a lot of 'and guest' cutting.

I'm about where you are- you can start by knocking off family members you don't like...I have this guy.... LOL LOL

All kidding aside we cut back by not having kids except our nieces and nephews.

we did that in the beginning.

i was telling my mom today that there is nothing we can do so we might as well suck it up...

the benefit is that we are having it in the winter most likely so it cuts some costs!

well take a calculated guess on how many you actually think will show -
we invited over 300 and less than 100 actually came

We invited that many. But alot were overseas and couldn't attend. Just make sure you have enough space at your hall for everyone to move around comfortably. Dance floor, seating, etc...

Thanks all. I actually think that we are going to get at least 300. FMIL has gone to so many weddings in every state in this country.

From the amount of engagement cards alone, I doubt I will get tons of 'No's'...however that could all change.

I am nervous about this many people being able to feel comfortable in the space so that is my chief concern.

Re: Anyone else inviting 375?

To be honest with you, I think cutting down a list can be very difficult. You don't want to offend anyone if you invite one family over the other. I haven't started making an official list yet for my wedding, more or less because I'm afraid and trying to deal w/ an e-party. My FI and I are having an e-party at the SandCastle in May. The minimum is 110 people. We're just having family right now and the grand total is 160. Initially I said, no more than 115. But, unfortunately, my mother doesn't like the idea of having one over the other and no kids. In a sense, I'd also want my cousins kids because they are family and when I was younger I was never excluded from any family party because I was a kid.

Space at a hall is extremely important. Make sure that if 375 guests show they can all fit comfortably. How many guests are you sitting per table? Do you think its possible that the hall can set up the number of tables that you would be having in order for you to visually see if it looks comfortable?

Space is my biggest concern....and I have visually seen about 100 less at both places with plenty of room to add at least ten more tables...

I agree- it's been very difficult to narrow it down....esp. with my FMIL who goes to a wedding or shower or baby shower every weekend!

I dont want to sound mean but, how does everyone know 375 people to invite. My FH mother is one in eight, My mother is one in five, My father one in three and my FIL one of two. Together my FH and I have over 30 cousins. That to me is a pretty big family and we have together invited over 40 friends. Plus I have to invite all of my father side which is about 30 people. I have only about 165 invited. Where do the rest of the 210 people come from? I am not writing to sound mean, I just always wondered how weddings got so big.

ditto. We invited 260 and had 130 attend. (out of towners, international guests, holiday weekend...it all resulting in a BIG amount of declines)

I think it seems like a respect thing also. It's like one feels obligated to invite certain people because they invited you, etc.. If not, forget it- you'll look evil. I know that's the way it is in my family. Unfortunately, IMO, I'd invite who I 'have' to. I don't wanna deal w/ headaches for the rest of my life as to why I invited one over the other.
