Anyone else just having a BIG BBQ for their RD?

We're consideirng on having a huge BBQ gathering at our house for our RD. We'll have soooooo many people and just want to have a casual fun feeling.

Anyone else doing this??

The time of year your getting married would be perfect for that, I think it's a good idea. We are having ours in a restaurant but if the church was near our house and it was a nicer month I would consider it.

Curious to know since we're date twins, if you're doing this on Friday the day before or the week before for a BBQ? That's a good idea..weather pending of course.

That is exactly what we wanted, but then we set our date for late Oct and that Idea was out.

I am having a BBQ. I don't want to pay for a rest. and there are too many people to have in the house.

Wow..I havent even thought about that. I think that would be a great idea! My FH's family has a house upstate with 7acres of land...I think we can pull of a nice BBQ...

I would def. recommend having waitress service....they serve & clean up for you. You aren't going to want to set up & clean up the day before your wedding. Alos think about how long people may stay....

*not being negative but hoping it helps b/c I was considering it to until I thought more into that.

At my FIL's house!

I think it will be a fun way to celebrate informally and casually before the wedding

Very good point. Being that it is the day before the wedding you dont want to exhaust yourself too much.

I was thinking of a service (great idea) but don't want to spend the money. Since the wedding is on a Friday we will have it the weekend before and I was hoping for late Sunday afternoon so everyone will go home at a reasonable hour for work the next day. If I can't do it that way then I probably will do the service thing because that would make more sense

Definitely!! Just need to figure out when our guests will be coming in. We are getting married over a holiday weekend and our rehearsal is on Friday- church rules..........

The way the weather is going I could probably have one too! I think a huge BBQ would be great. A lot of work for you but still alot of fun!

I was thinking about doing this in this more people can be invited and my family can get to see our new home ....however the weather in May is so iffy

Yes Im considering that idea at my moms house but the only thing is the cleanup afterwards because we plan on having this the night before the wedding and I will be getting ready at my moms house so I don't know

Yup, we'll be doing that too, Kristy! I can't wait! We're going to have it at my MOH/sister's house...and she has a pool! So it'll be a bbq/pool party! I'm glad others are doing it as well! We're a more casual type couple anyway!

we are... even though it won't be outside, we are having it either at my dad's house or FIL's house.. We can't see the point in having a big formal dinner the day before our wedding. In our opinion, a huge RD is a waste of money for us.. We just want an informal gathering and not lose focus on the REAL reason we're at the RD- the wedding!

our rehearsal is the friday before the wedding, so we are going to have a big BBQ at my parents house. We figured we could also have some food catered and get a keg and i really want to have a lot of our friends over who aren't part of the bridal party.

We are having a big BBQ b/c my FH loves BBQ's and I get everything else I want. We are going to do the waitress service probably b/c I don't want my mom to have to stress!

Hey twin!!!

We're having it the night before the wedding....that's when our rehersal is I just think the casual atmosphere will be great the day before the wedding.......

I'll be leaving the house as the sun is setting ..... that's what FH and I planned. The next time we see each other is when the doors open in the church
