Anyone else LOVE ASIAGO Cheese ???

I Feel like my family (and our cousins) are the only ones that grew up with Asiago cheese as a staple item in the fridge.

Every timeI ask people, theyve never heard of it.. maybe im asking the wrong people, lol.

I LLLOVVVEEEE this cheese, and its only recently that Ive started seeing it on restaurant menus... I hate when they sell it 'soft' at the supermarkets. its meant to be a hard cheese

YUMMM ITS SOOO GOOD. grated, not grated, with bread and tomatoes and mortadella......

I think im gonna go have a piece!

I grew up on asiago - I only ate it in a slice with antipasto recently though at Positanos on Mulberry.

My mom grated over pasta/ pizza/soup yum!
I have a recipe at home for asiago dip - i will post later if I find it !

Anna

In my family, ANY Italian cheese was a staple in the fridge! Asiago, provolone (the sharp kind is my fav!), pecorino romano, parmesan, mozzarella...my brothers and I (and our cousins) could eat ALL of them without anything else...my Grandma used to call us MICE!

ASIAGO DIP ????
PREGNANT WOMAN SALIVATING HERE!!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMM
I can eat asiago like its bread

Claud, I was never a fan of swiss or provolone, but I love almost any cheese.(especially the salty ones )

Claud, funny how you said you can eat it alone and your grandma would say something. It reminded me of how my parents and grandparents would ALWAYS TRY to make sure we had a piece of bread with it. As if we couldnt enjoy 'the good stuff' without some wholesome bread, and not just eat it alone. My nieces are at my dads sides when he's eating his coldcut lunches (prosciutto, mortadella, asiago, etc etc) and they always skip the bread and get right to the good stuff, no matter how much bread he cuts up

I have a FANTASTIC recipe with Asiago Cheese! It is always a HUGe hit. Here goes:

1 Loaf of Baguette Bread (or French)
1 package of Cream Cheese, softened
1 envelope of Knorr Pesto sauce (found in the section of the grocery store with soups, sauces & gravies- its a dry mix)
Asiago Cheese, shredded
Chopped Tomatoes (optional)

Slice bread and place on cookie sheet. Mix together softened cream cheese & pesto sauce mix. Spread onto baguette slices, top with shredded Asiago cheese and bake until cheese is melted. When they come out of the oven add some chopped tomatoes.

YUMM! I can't tell you how many people rave over this recipe and how easy it is. Good luck!
