Anyone else not doing bouquet & garter toss? Or not having Father/Daughter or Mother/Son dances?
I don't think I'm doing any of the above and wondering if I'm the only one... Will it be weird that I'm not doing??
(Not doing the toss because I won't really have many single people... And not having those 2 dances because My FH's mom will be in a wheelchair and my dad passed when I was 14..)

I'm not doing the bouquet/garter toss... at most of the weddings I've ever been to most people hate having to go up for this! Myself included. I went to a wedding where all the girls watched the bouquet go up in the air and fall right down on the ground w/o anyone trying to catch it. In fact, everyone moved away from it! NO THANKS!!!!

I'm going to do the bouquet toss because all of my friends are single except for one who is getting married 2 weeks before us!
I'm not going to do the garter toss because I personally don't like it
Edit: I'm young enough where I don't think any of my friends feel uncomfortable about not being married or engaged yet

i dont think i want to do the garter toss-- i sortof feel strange about do it.
I havent decided for or against the bo-k toss but we are def doing parent dances!!! I feel that down the road that is going to be sucha memorable thing for the both of us!

It will be fine if you don't do the tosses or the dances, nowadays, everyone does their own thing at weddings...as long as you are happy its all that matters!

I am not doing the bok / garter toss. A lot of my GFs are married so there would be like 5 girls up there. And the garter - FH hates to be the center of attn so he wouldn't want to 1) reach up my leg for it in front of both sets of parents? NO WAY and 2) throw it to his friends who don't even want to commit to a relationship no less get married - NO WAY.
I also don't want the interruption .. I want as much time as possible to dance with FH and my friends / family. I am doing a combo salad / app for this reason too, and MAY even have the cake cut early so that it's cut while we eat dinner and brought out immediately.
I am doing a father / daughter dance, but FH says he doesn't want to do the mother / son dance, again because he would have to be up there in the spotlight. His mom may want it, though ... so I dunno ... maybe we'll dance to the same song so that both dances can happen at once?

That's a really interesting idea...to have one song that the bride/father and groom/mother can dance to at once. I always feel like its too long a time to watch people dance alone with the two dances back to back....hmmmm maybe i'll have to do this myself!

I know, it takes a long time. If we did two songs, they would be spread out so that people don't have to watch two dances back to back. I want to do one song more so that FH feels comfortable. I may even ask people to join in half way, like they do with wedding songs. (Not happening with mine.) Only problem is, you need to find a song that fits both bride and groom -- and if you have a song with your dad that is particularly meaningful, or if FH does with his mom - it can be hard to agree....

Yeah, for my situation it would work because i'm not really 'daddy's little girl' and we've never slow danced together ever before...and i know my fh and his mom don't even know what song to dance to...so i think it would make it less awkward for me to be dancing by myself with my dad to have fh and his mom near us....now i just have to find a song that would fit both! FH doesnt want to do a garter toss since most of his friends are all married. I want to do a bo-k toss but think my friends would be a little shy to walk up and do it... so we're not doing both.
