Anyone else not have the traditional sit down dinner or reception hall cater buffet?

I so wish I had a backyard to have my wedding reception in. I dont eat sit down dinners at wedding and just wanted a party and cocktail food for 5 hours (yep got the ham and turkey too)

No catering hall wanted to do that....but thank God I found my place and caterer to support my wishes...

Anyone else doing something different?

I always dreamed of a garden being planted about 2 years before just for me and my wedding. It did not happen though. I am doing the sit down dinner with the country club.

I am originally from Ghana and I could have had the garden thing if I went home but we decided to get married here so we have to have the same old same old

I had the traditional sit-down dinner, but I'm always in support of folks who do their own thing!

I have always wanted to be married outside. I am very much an outdoors kind of girl. We considered having our wedding in our backyard or in a local state park, but I couldn't relax about the unpredictability of the weather.

I didn't want tents, because to me there was no point in being outside if we were going to be forced under a tent. Figuring out where to have the wedding was pretty stressful for me because I thought I was going to have to give up my dream wedding.

I eventually found a steamship company on Lake George that would host weddings - we will be on a Lake and can be outside or inside a glass enclosed boat. FH and I are really excited to have found the boat We will have the ceremony on the boat before the cruise, then we board with our guests before they allow the public to baord. We will have a private dining room, but will share the buffet with the rest of passengers.

I can't wait! 124 days!!!
