Yikes. We were looking at townhouses which I've found but I really want a house. However, how are the utility bills? FI is more worried about them than the mortage payment.

I agree, too far but its a house, I keep trying to tell FH that but he insists on being in the neighborhood he grew up in

i guess thats why it was hard for us. Since i have to trael by car into BK everyday and he has to drive a comany car into the city everyday we wouldnt go father than East Meadow.
We finanlly found a great home inHicksville for a great deal. it takes patience.

That's what I wanted to do at least between his and my house. It's just not possible with what I want. I also didn't want to travel too far to work.

His neighborhood is great, everyone looks out for everyone, etc. but its just toooooooo much for what we can afford. Id love to be there but b/c of him insisting we are in an apartment.

Thanks! I was looking at apartments but we need a 2 bedroom and the prices were about the same as buying a house for us.

I know-prices are ridiculous for apartments! We renting from a friend so its cheap. When we were in SC we were in a 2 bed, 2 bath luxury apartment for 850 a month! Ahouse the same size as the one I grew up in were around 245K!!! We almost bought a house, but just werent happy down there

theres no place like NY.. the cost of living is more expensive cuz the salaries are much higher in most cases. But bottom line NY is just differnt. once uve lived here u will always say ' theres no place like home'

I agree, SC was great as far as the weather. But truthfully, born and raised in NY you always want to come back! There is no place like NY.

You get a craving in the middle of the night you can go get it, want to go somewhere that has a nice atmosphere, you can......down where we were the only thing open after 10pm was gas stations, diner and walgreens! The bars were the same thing different day-it was just too repetitive.

I just did one of those survey things online, we are talking about it so I just decided to do it, it was what city do you belong in and it siad NYC

my FBIL just bought a house in jersey like 20 min away form PA. he will have to drive to the city everyday and home everynight. Poor guy. they are both born and raised in Asotiria where everythingis local. Now they have to drive to go get milk. His wife doesn know how to drive so it should be interesting to see what will hapen when one of the kids runs out of formula or pampers and her hubby os at work.

They were not too bad probably about 1/2 the price of houses here.

they say no.. i tried to bet $ on it that why will come back but they wouldnt let me make $ off of them. there is no way they will last out there.

They clained they cant afford anything in NY. We found them like 10 houses out east thet were the same prces as this one that they bought with less tazes.. His wife just wanted out.. to be away from family.Now they are going tobe stuck out there witht he bears.
