Anyone else realize.....

Anyone feel kinda sad when they go to make their guestlist and realize a lot of family has passed on or realized you really DONT have THAT many friends :(

I have a very small Family as does FH so we were surprised at how small our guestlist is. Even though we never feel like we're lacking friends, when people live out of town it makes it very difficult. I feel you on this one.

i have a huge family and small group of friends, FH has almost no family and HUGE amount of friends and co-workers

we both have big families and we pride ourselves on our small group (but close knit friendships)

It is sad to look at the family members that have passed that won't be there physically that day but they will be there in memory! :)

Yep, this is me...we both have small families and not a ton of friends. It's a little sad, but I really don't want a ton of people there just to have them. I like that it's going to be close-knit.

we didn't have an overly large guest list. I have NO family in the US besides my immediate family - so I had more friends come to the wedding while DH has a ton of family who came to the wedding.
You kind of feel it now, but the day of, your going to be so happy to be finally married you won't notice it

I actually choked up at a florist appointment a few weeks ago b/c he asked how many grandfathers for my side & I replied 'none.' I lost both of my grandfather's in a matter of 7 months last year.

One of my grandmothers passed away May 2010, the other August 2010 and my FH grandfather passed away this passed January. It is so hard for us not to see their names on the list.

I realized that I don't have that many friends :\. I'm only having about 10 or so friends coming..I'm okay with that. I have tons of friends who just don't make the time for me anymore, so I certainly am not inviting them.

ETA : I also realized how small FH's family is..it would have been bigger but he lost his grandparents all withing the past two years..besides that the only family he has is his mom and a few aunts and uncles.

nice to kn ow your not alone :) I lost my dad when I was 11 and I have never had a relationship with my 'mother' major drug issues...sad My grandpa passed away last summer and my grandmother has very very bad dimentia and doesnt remember me or anyone else... my other grandfather is on a pacemaker and my other grandma takes care of him- they are both in LV so dont know if they will make it... But- have to appriciate what you have.

And it also makes me sad to look at my guestlist and think of the names that would have been on but have passed away.
