I heard the song (Push Push) In the Bush on the radio the other day & it got me to thinking how I loved that song when it came out (I was ten) ... but I surely had NO IDEA what it meant ...

I must have been really naive... I don't even know what song you are talking about.

Totally. Just like I used to sing Greased Lightning (the whole Grease soundtrack) - but never really got the words -

I'll venture a guess maybe you weren't born yet!! LOL - I'm old ... anyway, it's a 70's disco song ...

we had to change the words when our jr high drama club performed Grease.
I loved papa Don't Preach & we used to call z100 & request it all teh time.
When i was in 4th grade my cousin ( now my MOH) was lsitening to it, she was in 9th grade, and said, 'Oh I hope that never happens to me' & I said you hope what never happens to you?'
I had NO idea what it was about. I thought 'i'm keeping my baby' meant she was staying with her boyfriend.
I thought her dad just didn't like him.

I thought the same exact thing about Papa Don't Preach!!! I remember my brother telling me what it really meant, and I kept telling him he was wrong.

OK, I'm so not naive and I wasn't as a kid, but I really thought the line was 'The chicks will scream...'

My mom thought the son 'Poetry In Motion' was Oh, a Tree in Motion and 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' was 'Dirty Knees On the Thunder Chief.'
My MOH had the opposite problem she thought that 'Hello Again Naturally' was ' Hello Again Vaseline'

OMG!!! I used to think it was 'Dirty Deegs and the Thunder Chiefs' Then one day Rob was like, what are you singing, I told him and he nearly died of laughter. Oh well... as far as niave... I had no idea what 'knocked up' meant or what happened with the folding table and the dirty knife in Dirty Dancing.
