Anyone else's FH a...

...workaholic? I totally respect him for it bc he's doing it 'for our future' but I never see him and it's starting to really get to me!!

I know how you feel... if he's doing it to get a promotion and then it'll ease up, then I would stick by his decision. I'm sure it'll get better!

OH yesssssss..FH works 7 days a week, for on average of 16hrs a day. AT LEAST..he goes to his regular job from 6am-3pm, then goes straight to his side jobs. Sometimes doing 2 a night...he tries to be around on saturday nights so we can have dinner together, but lately since we need the money, I dont even get that
but he promises me its only b/c he wants us to a have great life and he wants to give me the wedding i've always wanted. But sometimes i'd rather just have him there than have him kill himself with work everyday. Poor boy is going to fall on his face one day

Mine had his own business a few years ago (bad business partners = lots of work and not enough money) and I never saw him. Ever. It ****** big time. Once, we were going on a trip, and he worked for like 36 hours straight to finish something ... he got home at like 6am, jumped in the shower, and hopped in the car to go to the airport.

Now, he works for someone else again which is much better, but when he gets a side job (he is an autobody guy), he does it at his friend's shop and works nights after working all day. I hate that.

But like you, I know he's doing it for us. It's hard sometimes, I know!

I know what you mean...my FH stays so late at work and then goes to class...he overworks himself often...It is def a great trait to have, but sometimes he overdoes it

FH works 6 days a week and often nights. It is a little different for him because he is in the USMC and doesn't have a choice. It definitely doesn't make it any easier though

My fh is a mortgage broker so he always has appointments when normal people get home from work and he teaches an adult ed. class in mortgage and finances and he does classes at local libraries for people interested in mortgages.

He works like a dog and it makes me respect him and appreciate him sooo much.

I once had an ex who was so not motivated and after we broke up I swore the next guy I was with was going to be super motivated and hard working and thats exactly what I got. I think its a turn on

My FH is a mortgage broker too! The problem is, he works with people on the west coast all the time so he is usually working until their business day ends - which is 9PM our time!

Yes, I totally love the fact that he's motivated to make our future better! It def is a turnon... ... but if he's never home, it doesn't matter much, does it?

No... Actually it's the opposite. I'm either at work or home doing work for work. I feel bad for him sometimes but it's for our future. I am working as much as I can to pay for the wedding and to hopefully buy a house and put money in our savings. It's for us. But I do understand why you feel bad about this....

Yessssss... he owns his own restaurant business, which requires him to be there 7 days a week, it took him about 2 yrs before he even had a day off. Now that he gets 1 day off a week, its during the week when I work. I totally can relate. PLus I live in in FL, so I dont have all my family and friends here, its very tough. He is up at 5am, and gets home at 6pm. Then he is so tired from the day.... its not an easy life for him, or me.

FH doesn't work 7 days a week but his day starts at 6:30am and he doesn't get home until 10 or 11 at night.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it really bothers me but we could never have this amazing wedding, or anything else we have for that matter, if not for his work ethic and great job. I'd rather have him be a work-a-holic then a couch potato! But I definitely have my days where I just wish he was home at a reasonable hour

I am Future Wife of a workaholic.

He even dreams about work , because he talks in his sleep eveyr night and its about work.

He works crazy hours, and building the house, even though he isnt building it himself, just coordinating everything and getting estimates, is another full time job.

The one plus is he the owner of his own company, so a day like today we were togehter, and went looking at doors and moldings for the house, and had a nice lunch together. thats the bonus, he doesnt have anyone to answer to, no one to tell him he cant take off. or when to take his vacation.

BUT it suckks, but thankfully i love being alone, and my alone time, and i have a dog, and that is good too.

I know after the house is complete in a few more months, things will be alot better

Hang in there!
