Anyone elses FI complain about the amount of $ a wedding costs?
I feel bad... it does cost alot but we just have to accept it and save, not complain. I feel stressed.

Mine does all the time and I feel bad too! We had a long talk though and he's been a lot better about it. I'm trying to stick to a budget that we set together - It helped that I made him make some vendor phone calls and talk to these people so he would know that it wasn't me trying to spend a lot of $$$. Thanks! We are right on our budget but I guess the saving is making us both stressed.

Getting into the swing of saving is completely stressful. We've only been engaged for 2 months and we started Direct Deposit. It's been a hard adjustment but it's getting easier to live without the money. We now live within a budget. He's better at it than me ... I love to go shopping!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! I am constantly saving, and I feel like more then him. And when I bring it up to him, he always throw at me, you want this and need this photo, blah blah blah. It's very upsetting, and he knows it bothers me.

mine says that is a one time expense so we should do it right(obviously im not going overboard cause i want the house downpayment) but he is supporting all my little extras

Mine does not understand why things cost so much more when they are for a wedding.
We have cut out many extras that I would like because he felt they were bigs wastes. But other things that are very important to me he doesn't complain about. For example we are spending more on music and limiting the photography budget to professional portraits on a day different than the wedding. I'm making a scrapbook, something I wil look at a lot, rather than a formal portrait album. Etc. We found ways to cut costs where it wouldn't bother us as much.
I really want to be a stay at home mom in a few years, so any we can save now will help in the future.

I am with you--he says 'the wedding is one day and our marriage is a lifetime--lets look for our house!!!' I have to agree with him!

Actually, I think I complain more than him.
I am the one that manages all the bills (the mortgage, electric, cable, oil, car loans, car insurance etc.. etc.. etc..) so I think I am more aware of the spending and how much we have to save for the wedding.
Plus, I hate debt or paying interest. My father instilled that in me. Never pay interest on a credit card.
I refuse to pay interest on anything but our house, car and student loans. Therefore, before we ever put anything related to wedding on credit card, I make sure it can be paid that month. And I refuse to accrue any credit debt over our wedding. As we plan and move forward, if we cut something out than we will.

We've been married 4 months and he STILL complains He does admit that it was worth every penny tho'

The only thing FI has said anything about was the cost of my dress !!! When I told him, he seriously thought I was joking for about ten minutes. He got over it fast though. Anything other than that we agreed on a specific budget for each thing and if we went over, we cut back in another area. I think I worry more about the money than he does !!!

I am defintely more upset about money than he has, he has to calm me down about things. Because I think these vendors are taking advantage of us brides. But I am doing research and finding out wat is reasonable and I have made a budget and I am sticking to it!

oh my God! All the time. I was really letting it get to me but one of the girls on here said that on the day of the wedding he will truly appreciate that it was money well spent as well as all the work I've put in and I am praying that it happens.
