Anyone ever ask you this question...

Anyone ever ask you this question...

'How much are you paying per head?' I feel very uncomfortable answering that because it's usually people that are invited to our wedding. What do you say? Do you tell them the truth? My co-workers were asking me today and I was running away from the question.

A lot of people have been asking me too. I'm not sure why they think it's okay to ask but... 'shrug.' Usually I give a very rough estimate unless it's a friend who is looking around for reception places. Then, I give them a detailed quote to help them in their search.

I have had people ask but only close family/friends. I tell them If they ask about photo/video etc...I tell them that too.

I do not know why they are asking or why they care but I have no problem telling them since it's close family and friends.

I have yet to have anyone other than close family/friends asking. I am not sure how I would respond if a random guest were to ask

i think they probably ask, because rule of thumb as a present is to cover the cost of their plate and some people are just rude and want to know

Yes they do. I say 'plenty.'

It is very rude.

OMG , one of my coworkers first asked me how many people I was inviting. Of course I tell her, then she asks how much per head. what could I do? I told her and she was like oh my god BLA BLA amount in total???!!!!! I'm so bad at handling these wierd situations.

yes.. .and i totally feel weird about it. it's like why are you asking? i am keeping my mouth shut unless it's close family or friends... my mom jokes that since we got such a great deal that people will skimp out on gifts if they know how much it is per head. ;) however, i have been sharing the good deals i've been getting and finding with other friends that are planning weddings....and the girls on LIW, of course!

No one has asked me that yet. If it's not someone close to me I think I would be a little put off.

No one has asked me directly, but my mother has been asked a couple times by other family members. She answered back 'oh whaddya need to know THAT for!' She just brushes it off.

If it's a LIW bride who needs to know, i tell them, but family, only a few people know. I think one persona sked me that ..I said 'enough!'

a good amount of people ask, and I tell them It does not matter what I am paying, its the fact that i love where im having my wedding that counts

people ask, and i tell them....just so they know how much they have to give as 'gifts'

Yes, I would get asked all the time and I would say 'that's personal, we're fine, thanks'. People are nosey or they want to know to gossip (or figure out a 'gift') all non-valid reasons in my book.

An LIWer I would tell, maybe...but I never told family or close friends. Not even my MOH knows how much we paid. Really no one's business.

It is a rude question to ask and I have been ask a few times already. Now I make a joke out of it and tell people that we didn't want to go crazy so we wanted to stay around the 300 to 500 pp mark.
You have to see some of the faces when I tell those people that ask me the question, it's SO funny.

A couple of people have asked me and I turned around and said 'That's personal, why do you want to know?'

Some people said they knew someone getting married and they wanted info or others said they wanted to know how much a June wedding in NY costs (I live in Los Angeles).
The people who said, 'Just curious' I told them to call the hall and ask.

If someone asks you a personal question, I would find out their motives before answering.

no... but i think if they did, i would be dumbfounded. i think i would just say - 'a lot'. If it was someone close, I'd probably say 'over X amt' but not give a specific dollar amt... except to immediate family (who already know).

First I think it's rude. But if they are persistent I would tell them a big inflated number. Let's just say my wedding is costing tens of thousands. Jackazzes.
