Haven't been to a wedding there.....I've heard it's kinda gawdy looking though.........but it's only what I've heard.........never been though.

haha. i dont know! i was just putzing around on the newlyweds board and saw a bride who got married there, and her pictures were so stunning, so i was just curious...

Yea they are closing it down and putting up condos...it's sad that place has been a landmark forever!

I was there, it was for my FH's aunt and uncles 25 wedding anniversary. It was really nice and the food was great but yes they are closing down and putting up condo's.

I went there to check it out and the guy i met with (who ended up being the owner's son) was the most rudest, arrogant person i have ever met!!!
I dont think the place is nice at all and would NEVER recommend it.
Just my opinion.

No plan changed we saw it on the news...they were thinking of selling now they are building the condos behind HTH. I went to wedding there YEARS ago...I was just a kid and I didnt think it was so bad. But now I always hear its just a meat market type of place to have a wedding...what is it now like 10 wedding at a time? Thats a lil much for me. My friends were in a wedding there 2 yrs ago and they said it was horrible.

I had my senior prom there so I don't ever associate the place with good things. The thought of having my wedding at the same time as a prom is reason enough not to look there.

Don't care for it, having been to a wedding but other functions. They have alot of political events there. It is very gawdy looking. I do not give it a 10 star, maybe a 2 and that's being nice.
I heard it was being knocked down as well. They may be putting condo's there or something.

There was a article in newsday a few weeks ago about this, It was with the owner of it , Rhona Silverman,,
She said they are not knocking it down, that she may build condo's or a hotel on sight, but the rumors of that are false,,
It was just liek 2 weeks ago,,

I went to a wedding there a few years ago and it was OK. I recently attended a 50th bday party there. The food was nothing to talk about and the service was horrible. We couldn't get water, let alone any other type of drink from our waiter...which at one point couldn't find him. There are a million people there b/c there are so many banquet rooms and only 2 valet people, so we were standing there for 45 minutes (one of my pet peeves). I wouldn't spend my hard earned $$ there.

I went to a wedding there about 5 years ago and it was nothing to brag about. After the wedding, we walked into the hallway and there were two lights (out of maybe 20) that were actually on. The place looked deserted. We got onto the elevator to go downstairs to the main lobby - well someone must've hit the wrong button because we ended up getting out of the elevator into complete darkness! We finally found our way to the front entrance....It was definitely an unforgettable experience. I also heard they were knocking it down. It was definitely a great place back in the day!

LOL i didn't want to say anything but you are right... that place is horrendous and the best thing that could happen to it is a wrecking ball.
my FIL's got married their 32 years ago when it was 'the place'-- they get sick when they see what it has become. my FFIL sees a pic of Rhona and he grunts and mumbles 'you ugly.... ' LOL and then trails off into italian hahahaa, NO idea what he is saying but it can't be good!!
