Anyone ever cancel your dress?

Anyone ever cancel your dress?

or know someone who has (once your dress already was ordered/came in)?

I was at the mall looking for a gown for FMIL...she wanted to go into the bridal salon. The attendant I worked with said my dress had come in and asked if I wanted to try it on...I said 'sure'. I didn't like it...I made that clear to FMIL and FSIL who thought I was being crazy...the attendant asked me if I liked it and I said 'yeah' cause I was embarassed...

When I was leaving, she said that they usually have you pay the balance when you come for your 'preview' but that since I hadn't expected to preview it, she wouldn't make me.

I've found a new dress that I love from a different salon. If I get it, do you think I'll only lose my deposit?

I am almost positive all bridal salons have the same policy and that is that you have to pay the full balance of the gown, even if you change your mind.

That was what I thought...but apparently not at Lillette's (where I saw my 2nd fav gown yesterday after deciding to look for a new one). She said I should only lose my deposit...

You'll have to pay for the entire dress. I got my dress from demetrios in macys at smithhaven...the dress was ordered but hadn't come in and they let me switch it for a different dress. If i hadnt, i would have been responsible for the balance of the originald ress even if ididnt end up wearing it. Maybe they will elt you exchange for a different style?

I was told by fantasia bridal that if my dress came in and i didnt like it, i could use the deposit for another dress.

Damn...haha. I don't know...I got the impression that they wouldn't even do that...but the style I fell in love with is not Demetrios...and, coincidentally, is half the price of my original dress ...and I have to go through my papers, because I don't remember signing any sort of contract about that, unless I'm a total airhead and just got caught up in the moment (which is very possible)

doesn't make sense that you'd have to pay for the whole dress, you'd only lose your deposit... that's why its called a deposit

unless, of course, you signed a contract or your signed order slip says that you'll be responsible for the entire balance even if you don't want the dress

It makes sense because the dress was ordered and in and they would have to eat the cost on that.

but they still have the dress and can resell it for full price off the rack to another bride

Re: Anyone ever cancel your dress?

True. Another store was offering me a dress like that for only $100 less than the original price. I could see both sides of the issue. I did go to pay my balance today. What stinks is that barely anywhere has anything other than a 10 or 12 in stock, and sometimes things just don't end up looking the way they did when they clipped the other size around you! And sometimes, it's not even things that could really be altered...

I think each store has their own policy but for most I think unfortunately once it comes in you are responsible for the cost

I get what you're saying but in there eyes a contract is a contract. It stinks but it's a business. And if nobody wants the dress than they paid for it to be manufactured and shipped and again, they are losing money.

I know how much it stinks. I wanted to change my demetrios dress too but couldnt afford to eat the cost of my dress so they let me pick out something different.
