Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

What did you think? What cruiseline?

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

I went on the Celebrity Horizon last year, and it was incredible! The ship seemed a little out dated, but it was still first class. The food and service were excellent. There weren't as many on board activities as I have seen on other cruise lines, but I liked it that way. There was still a lot to do though. Bermuda was heavenly, and I can't wait to go again.

When did you go? Do you remember which ship?

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

Yes -

I loved it so did FH !!!!

We went on Celerbity Cruise line in late October.
The ship left out of NY. They treat you like roalty. And I have never eaten so much and the food was so good (not to mention the drinks)

I am a big relax by the pool/ beach with a drink person FH is a lets do something and see the sights person we both had a great time - only thing is I think the cruise line we took is geared for an older crowd if you are looking for a total party boat try caribbean (I think ). also there is one nightclub in Hamilton (one of the ports) and a few bars - and NO night life in St. Georges (last port) so if your big on that kind of stuff I wouldn't go. but if you love little shops beautiful beaches, and quiet pubs and cafes, water sports or historical places Bermuda is great.

Never cruised to there, but I was on the Norweign Sea last year and it was a horror- We nicknamed it The Norweign Nightmare!!! I heard that this boat was going there- try not to book it even though they redid the ship- it was horrible.

We sailed on the Celebrity Horizon. Celebrity has two ships out of NYC, the horizon and zenith.

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

I agree with the above statement that Celebrity is geared more for older people. If you're into more of a party atmosphere, I'm pretty sure Carnival has a new cruise out of NYC to Bermuda.

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

We don't want a party boat.We are looking for a nice vacation together.Just thought you might know of one you went on and would highly recommend.
Thanks for the warning princess99.I will make sure we stay away from that one.

We went on Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda a few years ago. The ship is not like those huge grand newer ships and I agree there wasn't a lot to do on the ship but the food was great and you spend alot of time on Bermuda. Horseshoe Bay Beach is so beautiful. The island is so clean and the people are friendly. We left from NY too..that is great that you don't need to fly!

Well, I would wholeheartedly recommend Celebrity. It was by far the best cruise I've ever been on.

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

mid october was nice but I think we lucked out - it could've been alott colder (it was in the high 80's)
It would probably be best in mid-late september it would be a tad warmer.

I was on the Zenith and it was a little out of date - but not 1980's out of date probably early 1990's out of date. And some of the on board activities were cheesy I agree - I would go with another line if you or FH/DH are into that kind of stuff - I'm not much of an activities person so it didn't matter to me.

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

A few of you talked about cheesy things to do on board. Are there any ships that are more up to date?
Anyone have the name of a ship that was great?
I will check them out.

I went on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian to Bermuda. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity were my favorite. As far as more up to date ships, majority of the ships that do Bermuda are the smaller, older ones.

What month did you go? Was the weather nice?

I also went Celebrity Horizon a couple years ago and it was very nice. Bermuda is very nice and relaxing. Horseshoe Bay is so much fun - I agree with whoever said that above. I went in July and it was very hot. I also agree with the older crowd. My boat was average age of like 50++. We went with another couple so it was fine but DH and I could have used more excitement esp. at night. We like to see a silly show or some kind of entertainment. Like a couple drinks at a bar with some people around us. It could have just been the week we picked though. The food was terrific and plentiful!

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

I took the Norwegian Majesty from Boston to Bermuda last year. Perhaps we had low expectations since the trip was so cheap, but we had a really great time. It was also our first time cruising, so we didn't have other ships to compare it to. We went in August. Bermuda is beautiful, and it will be a very relaxing trip!

Re: Anyone ever cruised to Bermuda?

Since this is my job - let me help you!!!

I would definately do either Royal Caribbean or Celebrity I think someone said it - but stay away from Norwegian. None of the ships that sail to Bermuda are brand new or even the biggest out there b/c the port is to small. Carnival has the Pride (a new ship) sailing in August but only from Wed - Wed. Each of the ships that sail there were built in 1990 and average 47,000 tons. The best time to go weather wise is July or August - but you will pay a higher price. Most economical way to go is Sept - Oct.

Hop ethis helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
