Anyone ever do this? Tacky???

www.aperfectweddinggift.com

It's a way for guets to give cash gifts via this website.

My former stepsister sent me this info. and said she used it. I went as a guest with my mom so I never saw the wedding invite and wonder how you let guests know about it? Former stepsister put registry info. in the invite but isn't that an Emily Post no-no?

hmmm, I have never heard of this. Most guests bring checks or cash to the wedding anyway so do you think it's even necessary? I am debating doing some honeymoon 'extras' as a registry, but I wasn't sure if that was tacky either. I think everyone will have a different opinion so do what you want to do. As far as straight cash though, you'll probably get it anyway right??

The 'Etiquette' Police would agree -- the way to request cash is to spread the word via a nosy relative -- never to say anything direct. So yes, I find this tacky.

A male friend told me he prefers a list of stuff to choose from so he does not have to guess...and he is not one to give cash/checks? I had another friend, older woman, say she gives cash/checks instead of gifts no matter what since it's easier.

I do think I'd prefer to just have people ask about a registry instead of sending the info in the invite although it seems to be standard practice now to send registry info in wedding invites - at least all the onesI have received over the last few years.

Yeah, I do not plan to include registry info although I keep getting these weddingchannel.com registry cards in invites from almost everyone I know.

True. I don't want to have to carry a money bag and I also don't want a wishing well. i guess I could delegate my MOH or a BM to hold the cash/checks?

true - that would be a pain in the a$$. I guess that is the reason for so many dresses coming with matching bags?

Tacky.

According to the wedding etiquette police registry information is to only be included in shower invites.

To kinda get around that we put the following on our STD's...

'For out of town guest accomodations and registry information please view our website at...'

Using the STD for the registry info is great! Or just telling my busy body FSIL.

What about for people w/o computers? I know, hard to believe since even my grandma can go on-line but there are a few people in the family w/o computer access.

Yes, I'm finding out that most people did not access my website. Then again, with the exception of 5 kids all of our guest list is 30 plus and MANY, all aunts, uncles and some cousins are retired. It's a generational thing. Plus there hasn't been a wedding in my family in over 12 years and there was no internet available then. How in the heck did people plan? LOL.

I just thought it was more of a gentle way of saying where I was registered without actually saying it. I guess I found a loop-hole in the etiquette rule.
