Re: anyone ever have the engineer find water under the house?
Im not sure if this will help but:
When they built the houses on our block they screwed up. Your supposed to have sand then a cement slab then your foundation and around your entire foundation you should have more sand all the way up then 2 feet of top soil.
Our house had the sand on the bottom but not around the sides. Thank god the foundation didn't have any cracks but water was seeping in threw it. The water was just sitting next to the house for all these years. It was actually like clay!
We had to dig out the entire foundation tar it and back fill it correctly with sand. It was just completed yesterday!
Maybe the house doesn't have the sand at the bottom, it could be a dry well too close to the house or even your gutters. Find out where your gutters and washing machine drain into.
Hope it helps!

it's crazy, we went into the crawlspace basement and it was completely filled with water, u can't even go in there. it is where all the pipes are, but none are obviously leaking. this is such a mess, i don't even know how to begin to fix it, who's reponsibility is it?

Well don't quote me but I think,
If you haven't actually purchased the home yet you can choose not to, or barter down for a lower price. You will want to know the problem first before you buy it. Either the homenowner can fix it, sell you the house for less or you can not purchase it.
If you own the home and your engineer didn't find the problem previously or your lawyer and you didn't find it on our final walk threw your kind of stuck.
Like us!
ets: I hope it works out. It may be just a broken pipe you can see. Maybe something in the wall. I'd call a plumber.

weird my friends were all set to buy a house and then they looked in the crawl space and there was water in the whole thing. and what is wierd is that it was on the same block as my moms house and we never ever had water in our crawl space. i wonder if it the same house my friends were going to buy?
