Anyone ever have their dress sit at the store for a long time?
I got my dress yesterday! It was a cancelled dress from Saks. Gorgeous Vera Wang for 50% off! I was so happy that I finally found the dress. However, I am now a little worried that it will just sit in Saks and get destroyed or lost until my first fitting in late March. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Please tell me it will be ok.

Don't worry. I think that although it is a long time, nothing will happen. If you are THAT concerned you could take it and keep it in your possession. However, if you do that, and you wind up damaging it, it is your responsibility. I would rather let it stay in the store and then be able to blame the store for any problems...

My dress was a discontinued Marisa that I had to have. Thank God it fit! I found it in December and it' been in the salon since. Had my first fitting in May and my 2nd is in September. My dress was fine. Don't worry about it.

I would not worry about it. You are dealing with a very reputable store. I actually requested that my dress come in late this year. They sold the sample before I ordered so I never got pictures of me in it and I never got to try on a veil with the dress. I did go try it at Kleinfelds originally (where they still have the sample) but they did not allow pictures since I did not purchase there when i first found it. I am sure these stores often keep dresses in storage for a long time!

my dress sat at the bridal store for about a year...figured it was safer there, plus they have insurance if anything happened to it! don't stress!

in addittion to my main dress i purchased another dress which was a sample to change into. this was in january, and it has been sitting in the shop. i visited it on friday & it looks exactly the same. the bridal shop will take care of the dress, it is best to leave it there.

i wouldn't worry about it - i think it's common practice for them to store gowns so I'm sure they have policies and procedures to protect them

Your dress will be fine. It will be in its garment bag in a huge storage room in the back. I ordered my dress from RK bridal in April 2006, it arrived in July/August of 2006, and RK held it for me until my wedding in November of 2007. It was in perfect condition when I picked it up. Don't worry, your dress will be more than fine!

Thanks, everyone! I feel better about it.
I can't find the exact same dress online but this is similar except mine doesn't have a sash and has some draping on the bust. My dress is cream color as well.
