Yes - if you want to lose weight quickly, this diet works ..
I'm always reading up on diets and have tried Atkins. I hate eliminating all carbs and eating such heavy proteins and fat. But if you need a quick way to lose a couple of pounds - it works. I personally eat like the 'Zone' diet. A bit of everything. I stay away from simple sugar carbohydrates - well atleast try to. And when I start to feel bloated and like I'm gaining a few pounds - I do cut my carbs - mostly at night. Susan Somer's diet is similar to Atkins but with more choice - she's more about same type of foods at one sitting. Carbs/Carbs Proteins/Proteins. I think the balanced is best - but it depends on you. Try Bill Philips - a Body for Life - it's like the Zone too. My mom, brother and other family members have lost a lot of weight on Atkins - but gained it all back when their eating habits went back to normal. Good Luck.

HI, I'm not a dieter, but I just wanted to pass along the success of my mother. She has been trying to loose weight since I was in High school. Ever since I got engaged, she has become more serious in this. she joined weight watchers and had lost 30 lbs. in 2 months! I am telling you this b/c I am really proud of her. She has been trying many 'fad' diets, but this is the only one that has worked for her. Listen to all that responds to you and find the plan that fits best with what you like. good luck!

Both my parents have lost a lot of weight on the Atkins diet. It is only unhealthy if you reamin on it for long periods of time. Your body needs carbs but carbs go into fat much easier than proteins and proteins are harder for your body to digest and therefore take more energy to digest and this is why people get such good results on this diet and then when they go back to there normal eating habits they gain the weight back. You don`t cut out carbs all together but you limit them tremendously. I am currently on weight watchers. I have only been on it for two weeks but have already lost 10 pounds. I like the points system because you can eat what ever you want. It teaches you to eat more balanced (your points go a lot further the healthier you eat) so by the time you hit your target weight you have learned to eat better and maintain your weight. WW does take long because on average people lose 5 to 10 pounds in the first two weeks they average 1 to 2 pounds per week so if you looking for a quick fix WW is probably not the answer. I use their internet site, instead of going to meetings. For one it is cheaper and I know myself and I am so busy I would probably only attend the meetings several times. My sister who is also on WW attends the meetings and she says they help her stick to the diet. So it is really a personal preference.Welcome New Vendors
