I just ran through our information using turbo tax on the web and I am wondering if we really need to go to a tax preparer or if turbo tax is fine.
Has anyone here ever used it? What was your experience using it ?

I'm a CPA and I used to prepare taxes - my only advice is that if you have a 'complicated' return where you may be able to get a larger refund from someone who reallly knows the laws, it may be benefical to use a tax professional. Otherwise, save your $$ - Turbo tax is just fine!! It's what we use!

me too!!!! it is fine for a basic to intermediate return.

Would we be considered basic?The only thing we really have to deduct is mortgage interest/taxes and our donations and school expenses.
My husband has an account with ameritrade but its about $700 I doubt it went up or down with much difference.
I can' really think of anything else we could deduct.

you can definitely use turbo tax. i even use it for clients who own their own business (schedule C), and i have never had a problem.

I haven't used TaxCutt but I have been told that it is from H&R block and if you have questions you can call and they have to answer them!

My parents have been using turbo tax for the last 5 years or so. They've never had a problem.
