Re: Anyone familiar with DC???
I live in VA just outside of DC so this comes with the disclaimer that I've never actually stayed at any of these and this is more of a local point of view... There's the Manderin Oriental which is probably the nicest but it's like a bajillion dollars for a regular room so I could only imagine what the bridal suite would run you There are the more traditional DC/historic hotels like the Hay Adams or Hotel Washington which are both right by the White House and nice in an older kind of way There's a 4 Seasons in Georgetown which is a really cute area There's a Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City which is actually VA but is closer to the airpost (assuming that your flying into/out of Regan National) And then there are the Kimpton Hotels (there are a few throughout the city each called something different but I think they all have the same website) which aren't necessarily the 'best' but the are boutique style and more trendy so might be another fun option.
HTH if even just for a starting point

I live in DC.. my curiosity is killing me how your wedding --> cruise leads to a stopover here?
Anyway, all of the ones mentioned above are GREAT. I stayed at the Ritz in Georgetown and it was really nice.
Do you want to be able to walk to shops and restaurants? Or something hidden away?

I live in MD right outside of DC. The Kimpton hotels are supposed to be really nice. Hotel Madera is right outside of Dupont Circle where you'll find a ton of restaurants and bars. They're boutique hotels so they're smaller and a little more intimate. If you have any questions feel free to FM me.

There are so many amazing restaurants here. If you like seafood then I'd suggest trying Kinkeids. You can also take a look at Opentable's top 10 restaurants in DC. I've been to most of them and I don't have anything, but good things to say.

Ahh makes sense... thanks for letting me be nosy!! I think its a GREAT place to spend a night before your cruise!
Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill i stayed there it was nice. Crowne Plaza was also nice.
Go to Fado Irish Pub i think its on 7th in China Town.. I would live in that place if at all possible. Great food and great pints of beer.

Re: Anyone familiar with DC???
My favorite restaurant at the moment is Zaytinya...it's the most yummy mediterranian style tapas...it's super chic but loud so not necessarily the most romantic spot if that's what you're looking for (unless you wait to sit upstairs in the smaller room)....oh and its by the International Spy Museum which is so much better than the Smithsonians so maybe you could do it all during the day...oh and then there's Zola right next to the spy museum for drinks....Sounds like a fab day to me

Re: Anyone familiar with DC???
I really liked the Marriott we stayed in-- right IN DC basically-- it had a pool that was inside but then a gate that you could swim through to get outside!! it was about 3 years ago...
-then about a year ago we stayed in another place (Hyatt) which was right around Dupont Circle-- near the Woodley Park Zoo which was the best! A lot of gay people lol not that I mind that-- it was just something I noticed-- We were walking down the street, me with a clear head as always, and a lot of guys kept staring at Vinny-- so I thought, odd? Then I saw in all the windows-- rainbow flags, then I noticed men kissing and holding hands-- then I realized... it takes me a while sometimes
but those were nice, good luck!!

I don't know if it is the best but we just went to DC to visit my brother who lives there and we stayed in the Sofitel it was GORGEOUS and very romantic setting. Plus right next to the white house (well kinda but a block away from where you go to view it) check it out!

That's funny! Yes Dupont Circle is a great part of DC but definitely a gay part of DC!
