What areas are close enough to NY to commute to (metro transit) and are nice areas? The only one I know is Woodbridge because I have an aunt who lives there. We're looking to maybe move to NJ. Maybe buy a co op.

Re: Anyone familiar with New Jersey?
I'm about 20 minutes south of Woodbridge and I commute in....
There are also nice areas farther north. Best thing to do is compare a state map to a NJ Transit map and go from there.
Summit and Millburn are very nice areas and probably 1/2 hr commute.
SHort Hills and Chatham are also really nice areas, but a little bit longer of a commute!
ETA..I live in NJ now and if you want more info about where I live..feel free to fm me..My commute is pretty long though..door to door..it's about 1 1/2 hrs.., but the area is really nice!!! and centrally located to lots of places, etc.

Re: Anyone familiar with New Jersey?
I grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. When I first started working here in the city I still lived at home, and my commute was only a 25 minute bus ride into Manhattan. My mom lives in Clifton now and it's only a 30 minute bus ride into the city from there as well.

Thanks. DH already has about an hour and a half commute to lower manhattan now, so any commute the same amount of time (or less of course) would be fine.

Re: Anyone familiar with New Jersey?
I commute from Maplewood and the train takes about 35 minutes. Not a bad commute at all. Areas like Jozie mentioned like Summit or Millburn are nice- but a little pricey. We have a townhouse in union- not the greatest area but the townhouse is brand new and really nice and its easy to get to NYC.

Re: Anyone familiar with New Jersey?
I live in Bergen County which is an easy commute. If you are look for a co-op, there are a lot of them in Hackensack.
Let me know if you want more info or want to look at mls listings. I used to do real estate here.
Also, you might want to consider Morris County...still an easy commute, but housing is a little cheaper.

I grew up in Princeton and loved that area and the surrounding towns (West Windsor, East Windsor, etc.).
