When I tell people my wedding is 9/1/13 they look at me like I am nuts and say 2 years away?? And I say nooooooo...21 months away!! LMAO...I feel like a mom when she says her kid is 36 months instead of 3 freakin years old!!
People always ask me why I am booking things and looking at dresses and stuff so early. It's kind of embarrassing sometimes. Anyone feel like that?

Oh and shall i say that when I was looking at catering halls just last week 3 of them told me they had nothing left in 2012 except for October through December!!

I do! Im getting married the end of March 2013 and when I have to say 'not this march, next march' they all give me that weird 'why' face. I have to explain to them that, yes I know its 15 months away and yes I actually did try for a November 2012 wedding, however the place I wanted had zero availability for November 2012. I could of had it Dec-Feb but I am beyond paranoid about snow, so thats how I got March. Believe me, Id love to get married tomorrow but no one seems to understand that money doesnt grow on trees, and places are booking weddings in 2014 already. Thats alright in 30 days I can say Im getting married next year!

LMAO i get told that all the time ...and its the family really not my friends b/c all of them understand that having a wedding is a lot of money so they get it ....but i really dont care at this point its going to be 2012 soon...its your wedding and they will get over it LOL...
At least u will pay off the wedding b/f the big day ...that is my goal

Don't worry people thought I was crazy when I booked my hall in Feb of 2011 for my March 2013 wedding. I feel like people just don't get it and it not cheap. Just answer them and smile is what I learned to do.

Same here. When we told everyone our date they were all like really, why so late. We had tried for November 2012 but the place wanted a crap load more and since it's coming out of my pocket we went with March (since FH family has a curse when planning things in the winter, there's always a blizzard)I've learned to ignore those people and just plan away

I get it all the time 2! Its actually very annoying. Ppl rush to get married these days.. and don't get me wrong.. if that's what you want go for it! But I always thought it was pretty normal to take 2 years to plan a wedding. Just today a coworker who retired came to visit and when I told her I was engaged she asked when the big day was and when I said 2013 she made a face.. uggh! I'm tired of explaining, we're paying for it ourselves, we're saving money, taking time to plan and pay things off and blah blah blah.. lol
If I tried to plan a wedding in a matter of months I think I would go crazy and be super stressed! The only thing that has stressed me so far was deciding on a photographer and that was only because I met with 3 fabulous ones! I am loving being engaged and being able to take our time.

Well in a few weeks, we will all be able to say we are getting married NEXT year. and you know what, you are married for the rest of your lives. You date for a while, couple of years, and then your engaged. This is the shortest stage of your relationship. I wanted to enjoy it as much as possible!

I used to (and still do) get comments like that. I got engaged in February too, so it was well over 2 years so people thought I was a bit nuts but I didn't care- I got the hall I wanted, the vendors I wanted and that's all that matters in my mind!

I'm glad that I'm getting married in 2013...I mean things are booking up quite fast, but I still would rather take my time rather than feel rushed. I think that makes sense lol

I feel the same way! I know my wedding is in 07/5/13, and even though it's in 1 1/2 years from now, it scares me because i feel like im not going to be ready. Because not only do i have to plan wedding, FH and I have to move out of our parents house. And get our own place
