I knew this would happen...2 weeks till the wedding and all I can think about it the whole walking down the aisle part and how nervous I will be. I dont like the feeling of all eyes on me and having to stand up there for so long. I pushed these feelings aside for 6 months and now I am a mess!
Ok so all I can think about it that I might faint or be so nevous that I wont walk or something. Or I will be too nervous to say my vows (we wrote our own). I hate public speaking and being in front of others and I know its my wedding but it totally freaks me out. I dont know what to do to stop this panic attack from happening (yes...I have had a past with panic attack disorder...not fun).
Does anyone else feel this way? I dont know what to do but I am freaking and this is all I think about now and cant fall asleep at night because I envision myself walking down the aisle and I all see is black and the walls close in, etc, etc! My family thinks I am nuts but I am so worked up over it.

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
i was really nervous about everybody staring at me as i walked down the aisle too. i'm not particularly shy but the idea of everybody turning around to look at me really freaked me out. but.......i will tell you....it all happens so fast and you will be so focused on the emotions of the day that you won't even feel nervous. it feels like a dream that you are watching from outside your body! i honestly didn't even notice people when i was walking down the aisle....i saw a picture after and the videographer was on the floor filming my dress and i don't even remember seeing him! i was so emotional about marrying my DH that it didn't even occur to me that people were watching!
i think you will be ok and your day will be amazing!!! just focus on your FH when you are walking and it will be perfect!! and the good thing is....once you get through it, you get to party!!!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
I think the day goes so fast that you wont have time to even think about it and its normal to be a little nervous or even a lot but you do need a good nights sleep or you'll be a zombie. remember, its not a show or public speech- its a promise between the two of you - everyone else is just waiting for the cocktail hour ;o) since u've had panic attack disorder in the past I recommend you speak with your doctor to make sure you're doing everything u can and since u have concerns about your past to what is happening now. Also since ignoring this has been a good defense mechanism can u continue to do so until that day and then on that day only think of the honeymoon???
can your officiant say your vows for you? mine had us write something and she is addressing it like 'Frank, there is ways to something something for Liz. Liz feels ..something something and her favorite and she loves.. knowing what is in her heart .. something something more more more stuff do you promise.. do you take her something something.. and he says 'I do' or something.. If you know what I mean.
Good Luck!

don't worry jenn! everything will be fine..Don't stress yourself out..but i have to say that I too have the same worries...I get very embarrassed easily so Im nervous too, what if I trip?!!? or do something stupid?!? Just the thought of speaking in front of others too (when I feel you are most vulnerable..because of the commitment you are about to make) makes me so uncomfortable

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
yes, this is probably one of my biggest worries of this whole process. Its right up there with money. I have already warned my mom that I am either going to faint (i have never fainted in my life), or i will $hit my pants, or dress rather, (and i have never done that either), but with my nerves, I always get horrible stomach aches.
I just imagine holding onto my brothers arm as he walks me down the aisle, and then fainting.. lol.

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
It's not a big worry for me right now, but I'm sure it will be once I'm in the situation!
You'll be fine though - you're going to look great walking down the aisle!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
i was really nervous about this too. when they were getting ready to line us up i had to call a time out and go sit down b/c i was SO nervous. and before we walked down i kept saying to my dad 'i'm so nervous!!'...i was really freaking out. but as soon as we started walking i realized it wasn't anything near as bad as i'd thought it would be. and then when i looked up and saw DH waiting for me, i realized it was just me and him and that's all that mattered.
you will be fine!! just know that once it starts you'll realize it's not as scary as you thought.
i'm so excited for you...your day is almost here!!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
I didnt give it much thought at all, until the doors opened. I swear, I saw the aisle and all the people, and I just froze for a few seconds. And then the tears started, and I walked down the aisle, and the whole thing is over soooo quickly that you really dont have time to think too much about it. Its funny, you can see the frozen look on my face in the pics and the video.

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
i think this was also one of my biggest sources of anxiety leading up to the day.... but there is so much going on, and when i went down the aisle, i didn't even look at the guests, my eyes were just on DH (and the photographer of course who is right in front of you). i just focused on him and the officiant. it was over so quickly, no hiccups, and boom, you're husband and wife! you're going to be fine!!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
I totally know how you feel about the whole eyes on you thing. FH and I both are uneasy about, Me especially since I am so self conscious. I am hoping that will all go out the window in the excitement of the day. I am sure you will be fine. For some reason I find that if I freak out before hand and panic, it is usually for nothing. it's when I dont panic that I start to worry

YES I am.... and it has only been hitting me recently. Just think about how happy you will be in that moment, everyone in that place LOVES you and is so happy to see you marry your FH. You will be fine... deep breaths, and maybe a shot! haha

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
I was totally fine up until the day of the wedding. My stomach was in knots all morning - i wasnt scared , just super nervous about being in front of everyone. But dont worry , the rush of the moment gets you through it. Once you see FH , you dont think about nerves anymore. Its amazing!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
I am with you a 100%, i have a history with panic attacks as well and this has been my biggest fear from the beginning with the whole wedding! I am still freaking about it put I am trying to think that the day of all I will be able to think about is how excited i will be. If you find another solution let me know, but you aren't alone at all!

Re: Anyone freaking out about walking down the aisle?
i was nervous about this too. But seriously dont worry, it all feels so surreal when its happening that you don't actually focus on the fact that OMG i am walking down the aisle right now, its weird and hard to explain. When i walked down the aisle i just looked for FH and focused on him. Seriously dont even worry, dont think about how you will do it bc when the time comes everything is out of your mind and all you focus on is your FH.
I was VERY nervous about saying my vows. Everytime i tried practicing our vows i would mess up. Even at pre-cana when they had us say it to eachother im an idiot who said I joseph take you denise hahaha. DH kept asking me how am i going to even say our vows if i always mess it up. I was also afraid of ppl hearing me, so when i got up to the altar i noticed DH had a microphone on and i said oh great now i really have to worry. Well the priest whispered to us if we want the vows told to us slowly and i said yes please. I said them perfectly and didnt mess up thank god, and i also spoke VERY loud, infact after the ceremony everyone was joking around about how loud i projected my voice which i did hahahaha.
Its something you honestly can't prepare for, just go with it that day and everything will fall in place.
