Anyone getting..

or have gotten, comments on how much your hotel tooms are if you had to block rooms for out-of-town guests? I JUST sent out my STD's this week, and there are ALREADY comments. UGH!!

I didn't have the hotel info yet when I sent out the STD's so no comments. Maybe they'll give me a break since I'm spending so much on postage!!! LOL!! How much are your rooms?

The rooms are $139 a night...I know there are rooms that are cheaper, but I really like this hotel, and they offer transportation to my hall for the guests at no charge if we block 10 rooms or more! This was definately the hotel for me!

Considering the shuttle, that's not bad at all. Mine are $149!!

I have two hotels and the lower priced one is $139 and I thought it was high but the lower priced ones are just too out of the way.

I think people can either choose to stay at the one you reserved blocks at or they can investigate and stay somewhere else.

I just sent out the STD's about two weeks ago. The only comments I have gotten are how pretty they are. Thank goodness. Nothing about the hotel rates ($149 a night). I guess people realize it's LI and they also know they don't have to stay over.

We blocked our hotel rooms for 149. If you book 20 rooms they will provide a shuttle service to the reception.

No but I know it is coming. Our hotels are $119, $139 and $195/night and are in NYC. Most of our guests are from here in St Louis and they think hotels should be $79. I know they will freak.

I know what you mean. A lot of our guests are from MA, and they think everything should cost what it does up there (which is definately cheaper than here).

Jola, I think would book Thursday and Friday nights. If the guests want more time, they can book more nights...

Isn't it great that they offer that shuttle to and from the hotel? Saves me and FH (and I'm sure you and your FH) a lot of aggravation with regard to giving directions and with people drinking and stuff. No need to worry about them!!

My rooms were discounted for $149 when I blocked them.

There were a few comments, but guests have to understand this is NEW YORK.
I simply explained to the 'commenters' that if they want a cheaper rate, they will probably have to get a motel, or they could try Priceline.com

Once they arrived, they all said the hotel was worth it (Wingate Inn)

My point being........
Don't even worry about it, if they want something cheaper, they could do the legwork. In NY, especially LI, it will be difficult to find something NICE for cheaper than that.
