Anyone getting a second job to pay for the wedding?
Hi all, I need your opinions.
My FH has money saved but thinks its more important to save his money to buy us an apartment/condo in a couple years. (Which obviously is smart/responsible.) But, my parents didn't give us the biggest budget for the wedding. So, I was curious if any other LI Weddings bride got a small part-time job to help with all the 100s of little expenses that crept up? I have so much restaurant experience from HS and College and I want to get something like 2-3x per week and then maybe I will be able to be a bit more worry-free about booking music for the ceremony, DJ, BM gifts, etc..
What do you think? Good idea? Help! and TIA!

I think it's a good idea in theory, and I've been mulling it myself.
But BUT...you have to consider the toll that will take on you physically. Will you have enough time for appointments and planning if you have to spend that time working? Will you be too tired? Will the couple hundred dollars be worth it in the end?
I've decided for myself that it won't be worth it, and will probably cause more stress after all is said and done. But this is obviously a personal choice.

Yeah - I totally know what you mean. I think what I'll do is let chance decide for me. If I can find a job 2x/wk only M-Th, then I'll do it. And, if I end up realizing I'm too tired or busy overall, I'll just quit immediately. Thanks for your thoughts!

My mom runs a coat check at a restaurant during the winter so I am probably going to work there two nights a week...I normally worked once every two weeks and used anything I earn for christmas presents but I am going to put in a few more days and put whatever I earn in my savings...

I got one… and now I DREAD Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Haha it’s really not that bad, it’s only from 6pm– 8pm two nights a week but it just makes those two days seem extra long.

If you have the time, then I think its a great idea ... that way you can pay everything off and not worry about it. i wish I could but I cant because my job is 9-5 and I just dont have the time ... so Im just saving hardcore, no shopping, making lunch ... things like that. FH and I dont even go out, we watch movies at home

If you have the time and energy, I think its a great idea. The fact that you have experience doing something is even better. I wish I had a little side money coming in but I'm totally not the type of person to be waiting tables. I give credit to those who can do it. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for side work.

i got one tutoring at huntington learning center after work and on the weekends...
