anyone go away.....

anyone go away.....

when your baby was 6 mos. old or so? DH and I planned a trip to Vail (I used to live in Denver and just love Vail - we used to go once a year and actually got engaged there) - anyway, we planned the trip in October, for March 2 - at that time it seemed so far away! Now in less than 7 weeks we will be leaving Angela for almost 5 whole days and I am starting to panic. My MIL will be staying here and watching her and she is great, so that's not a concern. I am nursing, but really only in the early morn and before bed, the rest of the time she gets breast milk in the bottle, so that should also be ok.(I have enough milk frozen)...but still, I am so unsettled about it.
Anyone else go away from your baby around this age? If so, how were they, were they upset when you got home? Also, if I go 5 days without breastfeeding, will she still take it? I am planning to bring my pump so that my milk production doesn't stop. (Initially I thought I'd be weaned by 6 months - but it's quite addictive!) Thanks for listening and for any insight!!

OMG -57 views and no responses!! Am I the only person leaving their 6 month old for 5 days....I feel terrible!!!!

Re: anyone go away.....

My husband and I went away over night when my son was 1 month old ( it was our anniversary). I found he was fine, my BIL and SIL watched him. I was nervous but then was OK. He was fine but I found myself speeding to get home to see him the next day.
Now my son is 10 months old and we are planning to go to Disney is 2 weeks for 4 whole days. I know I'll be a mess. I try to let him sleep over his grandparents house on occasions so when times like this come up, he won't be too upset. Have you tried that?

Also, is your MIL watching him in your home. Hos surroundings might help. When I go away My MIL will watch him for 2 days, then my parents the next 2, all at my home.

Nicholas is usually pretty good. I'm the one who will probablly cry the first day I get there, especially when I see all these kids running around Disney.
Hope I helped

Honestly, I think that it's going to be hard regardless if it's 1 night, or 2 weeks, or if you're going away from your child 1 week or 1 year after birth. Moms have this maternal hold on kids when they are so young, and you're going to miss your child VERY much either way. Try not to panic... your MIL will be fine with the baby, and I'm sure that you'll be in touch with your baby many times a day to make sure.

Good luck!

I think it's fine!! Go and have a great time! Especially if your MIL is watching the baby, and even better if she is staying at your house with the baby.

thanks.....I think you knew what I needed to hear! I know she will be just fine, my mother in law has stayed with us several times and I hardly get to do anything with her when she is here! My girlfriend told me when she went away, she got back and everytime her daughter saw her for like two days she would just cry, like she was so mad at her! That would break my heart!!!

I never could because I AM such a baby, I hate to be away from the kids! I have NEVER left them to go on vacation while they were babies, I don't think I could enjoy myself always wondering how everything was going back at home. But I always admired those who could go away and enjoy without their kids!! I'm just a homebody I guess.
