trying to pick a great hotel in aruba we do not know if we want to go all inclusive or not, any good/bad feedback?

I just got home from my Aruba/orlando HM. I can tell you we Loved aruba!!! We stayed at the Occidental Grand Aruba, and we did go with all inclusive. I felt that it was worth it, because there were about 6 different resturants there and it was nice to eat and it be part of the package. We did go to 2 resturants not on our resort (El Gaucho) (sp?) and that was amazing too! I am glad we went all inclusive. We visited thre Riu Palace and that place was GORGEOUS!!!! also check out the wingate and the Hyatt, they were also well reviewed and looked amazing. Good Luck

The Hyatt gets great reviews, we stayed at the Occidental Grand Aruba. We stayed in the Royal Club, it was an upgrade and well worth it! We were treated like royalty and the food in the Royal Club resteraunt was amazing!! We only ate out twice because of all of the places to eat in the resort. There isn't a huge night life on the island. Aruba is a nice place to relax and recharge, especially after planning a wedding for so long! Good Luck

We went to aruba last month and we loved it. We stayed at the riu and we can not say enough good things about it. It was beautiful, good service and the food was really good.

I went there the first week for my honeymoon and I can't tell you how much WE LOVED ARUBA! We stayed at the RIU Palace and it was AMAZING! It just opened up on July 20th. It is a huge hotel, I believe there was 5 restaurants one of which was a buffet. The only thing I didn't like (well it was just annoying) was that you had to make reservations for the specialty restaurants every morning. The pool is gorgeous! Check out their webside... We also did the Royal club upgrade, and I have to agree, it was well worth it! they do everything for you and it was great!

I'll post when I get back on the 21st! We're leaving the 12th for Aruba and are staying at the Radisson. Will definelte let you know! I heard great things about the restaurants so we chose not to do all inclusive.

we havent been there but we are going there for our HM. we are staying in a relatives timeshare at the Marriot. all we have to pay for is airfare and spending money. i heard that Aruba has amazing restaurants so its better not to do anything inclusive so you are free to eat wherever you want. FH's parents went a few weeks ago and they said the food and restaurants were a little pricy but that everything was really really good. they also said there was a lot to do there - casinos, water skiing, ride wave runners, go on tours, ride atvs, etc. they even went on a romantic dinner on a boat thing at sunset with a few other couples. it seems like a really nice place. i just hope the weather is ok when FH and I go in december - i heard that is their rainy season....

We just went to Aruba for our honeymoon in September and LOVED it, cannot say enough good things about it!! We stayed at the Westin which was gorgeous and the rooms were really nice and the staff was fantastic. We didn't do all inclusive and we were worried we were going to regret but we didn't!! All of the hotels have great restaurants and there are so many restaurants outside the hotels that are soooo good that we're glad we didn't 'have' to stay at the hotel and eat because we felt like we had too. Also, some of the all inclusive packages are limited menus. In the end I was glad we didn' t do it. But it really depends on you your FH. Plus, the food in Aruba is not overly expensive. I mean the top notch restaurant are a little pricier. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

We went 1 yr ago (not for HM). Stayed at the Radisson & visited the Marriott. We loved our hotel...pools were beautiful & we spent lots of time at the beach. Marriott was cute too. We did not do (or even have the option of) an all-inclusive.
There are a few 'must try' restaurants: The best was called (I think) Chez Josephine: great steak...nice atmosphere..outdoor tables, live music, lights everywhere, Flying fishbone had great ambiance...tables in the water...you take your shoes off to eat. There is also a good churascarria...esp if you have never been to one.
SO: that's 3 restaurants. The rest of the time...the food was expensive (more so than other tropical locales with less options). Maybe an all-inclusive is a good idea....
