We'd like to take our kids to Disney after the wedding. Our honeymoon isn't untill next year. If anyone has been or is going to disney can you tell me if you used a travel agent. Any hotel reccomendations?

I stayed at Caribbean Beach Hotel. It was very nice and reasonable. We had a blast! And they have shuttles to take you to all the parks

FH & I went to Disney every year and we love it. Last year we stood at the Animal Kingdom Lodge which is on Disney Property and we love it. The food was great and the room was beautiful...very clean & organize. The year before that we stood at Royal Plaza on Hotel Blvd (five minutes away from Downtown Disney). The hotel was great too for the price that we paid. If you want to stay in one of the Disney Resort or any hotel in Orlando area, there will be shuttle to take you to all the Disney Park and other attractions around it. Check with the hotel that you book for the shuttle time. If you plan to book with one of the Disney Hotel, get the package plan that they have which include food, disney tickets, Disney hotel. We paid for the package plan when we went last year and we don't regret a bit. Try to visit as many places as you can while you and your family is in Disney. There are so much things to do in Disney....We book 7 days and we feel like we need more time. Hope this is helpful! If you want more details, FM me

I didn't use a travel agent....I plan and booked everything by myself. I booked through bookit.com (they have playment plans and some amazing deals for great hotels).

i go to disney every yr..i dont use a travel agent we book ourselves we always stay at the polynesian..all the hotels r good i would def say to stay on dosney property cause of the transportation..how old r the kids?although the more expensive hotels r fancy n nice the allstars give u a great deal and r very kid friendly ....u really cant go wrong with any hotel just depends on how much u want to spend..there is budget friendly,moderate n deluxe n they r all good...fm me if u have any questions

I've both been and am going again for the first 1/2 of our honeymoon. If you want to stay on Disney, it really depends upon how luxurious you want to get. I personally think it's a waste. I've stayed both on and off and I'm a fan of staying off. The Crown Plaza has AMAZING beds so that would be my recommendation!! HTH!! FM me if you have any questions.

Thank you for all the info. My kids are 10 and 11y/o. This will be our first time going to disney. We are def. on a budget but wanted to do something nice for the kids. I'm trying to look at flights but can't seem to find anything less than $350pp. FH wants to drive but we're only going for 5 days

i drive..i hate to fly and i mean granted im not with kids but its really not that bad..i really think u should check out the all stars..they r like 89 per night and its def good for the kids..spongebob dora all that good stuff..buses will take u to the parks,u dont have to drive
also i def would get the dining package,it may not seem worthit but it is..hth

How long do you think it would take to drive? We're getting married 8/30 and want to leave the next day. Kids don't start school until 9/7 so it gives about 5-6 days

From Long Island, straight through, just stops to eat and use the bathroom...I say about 20 hours...depending on how fast you drive!

when we drive we leave like 3 in the morning to beat nyc traffic and go straight to jacksonville takes bout 18 hours..stay over then leave for disney which takes bout 2 more hours

I went quite a few times. The carabean beach resort is really nice.I havent stayed at the value resorts, but I have heard alot of good things about them from several Co-workers.

I went for my honeymoon and stayed in the Grand Floridian.. but when we went before that we stayed at the Animal Kingdome Lodge and that was Amazing!! We had the Shavannah view and the animals were so cool to look at from the room.
I booked both trips on my own by calling the disney hotlines.

I go everyyear we are disney freaks.
We had tried to go through a few travel agents but honestly, it ends up being the same if you just go through the disney website.
My reccomendations would be :
If you are looking for a cheaper hotel, go with the Value resorts, prefereablly Pop Century (A friend of ours stays here every year with the kids)
If you are looking for osmething fun, the Carribbean beach resort has just added Pirate Rooms and let me tell you, they are awesome! The beds are shaped like pirate ships the rugs are planks of wood, the tele stand is a barrel....

I went with another family and they always stay at Port Orleans!

we just got back from our HM in Disney. we booked through AAA travel in garden city ny. and we stayed at the caribbean beach resort also. it was very nice. however, with kids the layout may be a little large at the resort. i think it may be easier if you stayed in a resort that was more compact. like the animal kingdom.

I own a disney timeshare - but before I bought it, we never used a travel agent for disney. We always just called or used the website.
With the timeshare, you can stay at any Disney resort so I've stayed at most of them (except for the All Stars). You can't go wrong no matter where you stay - Disney treats their guests right! My suggestion is to try to figure out what park you will want to spend the most time at (Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Stuidos, Animal Kingdom) and try to pick a hotel closest to that park. All of the hotels on Disney property have a unique charm. Also, I can tell you that now would be a really good time to book a package through Disney - they are having sales like you cannot believe - the economy is affecting them too!
The only other tip I have is definitely, definitely get the meal plan. If you're on a budget it will save you a TON of money.

Caribbean Beach and Yacht Club are great, especially because you can walk into Epcot, but if your looking more budget there are tons of choices. I heard the New Orleans hotels are great.
Also for little kids the Polynesian or Contemporary might be better because its an easy trip into the Magic Kingdom.
You don't need a travel agent. Disney makes it easy to plan everything online. Just make sure to get Park Hopper passes.
