Anyone going to Costa Rica or Dominican on HM?

Any feedback would be wonderful!

Since FI & I just bought a house Tahiti is no longer the best option for us. It's kind of a sad/happy emotion all at once.

My parents said they'd trade in a week of there timeshare for us to use but now I have to start from scratch again.

We're thinking of Costa Rica (he loves to surf!) or Puerto Plata in the Dominican...anyone been to either or are planning to go for HM?

I'm looking into Costa Rica right now, so I'll come back and post what I come up with. I've heard lots of great things about Puerto Plata and Punta Cana as well. You might want to look into the Paradisus Hotel (they have several properties in DR).

Hi Devon....I replied to you on the knot... We went to Costa Rica for our first anniversary and loved it. There are many different areas you can go to. We stayed in Quepos by Manuel Antonio(beautiful national park) for 4 days and Playa Tamarindo (big surfing area) for 5 days with a day trip to the Tenario Volcano. LOTS LOTS to do there. We plan on going back and goign to Tabacon/Arenal Volcano and Carribean (oops edited here) Coast one day. Feel free to FM me for info if you want more info and we have pics up here

ETA: Our travel agent said he sends most Honeymooners to Punta Islita (beautiful isolated area) and we almost stayed at Paradisus but wanted a smaller quaint resort. Four Seasons is also a great HM option!

I have been to Puerto Plata -last august - we stayed at sun village resort and spa - all inclusive and very cheap we booked it last minute and it cost us under 1500 for 5 days - we had a great time.
I dont know that I would go back but I wouldnt complain about it either. the room was clean- bathroom was a little shady - beach was nice they had these great beds on the beach - it was very relaxing - the pools were beautiful with great views - food was OK - not great but not bad either.
( you can get a great trip to the bahamas for a good price and the bahamas are great esp for a good deal.) I dont know what your budget is but if you were looking to spend under 2000 then you will get a lot for your money at Sun Village in the DR, afterall it is your HM and no matter where yougo youll stillbe happily married and alone together!
Another good pleace is Key West in Fla. or Miami - cheaper flights and crystal clear blue water.
Teh lastthing I want to mention is MExico - we went tocozumel and had a very nice time and also mayan riveria - good deals can be found there

That's actually one of the places the timeshare offers to us.....the 'Confresi' one...The master suite..looks amazing! Thanks for the review. I'm such a picky eater that no matter where I go on our HM, I'm sure I'll eat nothing lol

I just recently got back from Punta Cana in DR. THe resort was beautfiul but the food was not so good. We all got sick from the food and you have to be careful about drinking the water. If you dont mind just relaxing by the pool then youll be fine. We wanted to do things but there isnt much to do like shopping. You pretyy much cant leave the resort due to safety.

I’ve been to both Puerto Plata and Punta Cana in Dominican Republic. I really didn’t like Puerto Plata, but that could’ve been because of the hotel we stayed at.
My FI and I just went to Punta Cana in June and it was literally the BEST vacation we’ve ever been on! We were the only people our age that weren’t there for our honeymoon. It was absolutely gorgeous, the food/facilities and weather were phenomenal and we keep calling it our pre-honeymoon vacay!
It’s not in the main Punta Cana area—it’s about an hour taxi ride from the Punta Cana airport. It’s very private and secluded and you have the whole beach to just hotel guests. It’s on the pricey side, so I’d definitely look for internet deals!
