I'd be too nervous that someone might break or lose them.

I agree, Id be too nervous to bring that to the wedding and worry about bringing it back. If its something thats important to you or a tradition then its definately do-able, you just have to assign someone to be really careful with it..maybe your DOC.

Yeah I agree, would be too nervous, we didn't even bring the beautiful Waterford wedding champage flutes we got because of that!

i worked at a catering hall for a few years and never saw anyone do that! I have seen them use chamagne flutes... and i have also seen a few of those broken by waitstaff (the hall did replace them though)
the main reason why i wouldnt is because a lot more people would need to handle the dishes vs the flutes... they would have to be in the back kitchen so the chef could put the food on them... the plate goes through an entire line adding side dishes, sauces etc, then gets put on the waitresses tray where there are a lot of other dishes and also a dish cover, so the dishes can get stacked... i just think there are way too many chances for your dishes to break by clumbsy hands... the guys in the kitchen arent always as careful as the waitresses are...

I agree, at my MOHs wedding, they broke her toasting flutes. I dont think I would trust them with over $200 worth of my china!

Yes, I have heard of it, but I was too afraid to do it at my wedding.

I would worry, too.
For me, that wouldn't have been the first time I used mine, though. DH knew that I loved our pattern for a while before we even got engaged, so the night he proposed, he cooked dinner and served it on two place settings of the china that he had bought for me as a sign of how he wanted us to share a life together.

no way for using the china!
I will serisouly be soooo upset if they break the toasting flutes... did they replace them or pay to have them replaced???
